I bet they recycle parts... Thats why my tires are bald,,, and I'd bet I get "another" set of used ones when the cord shows... Sure wish I had a hub truck, they get new ones easy.... grrrrr
Don't be too sure about scrapping that trailer.
CF used to tear old trailers down to their chassis and rebuild them from the chassis up.
When these trailers reentered the system they had new trailer numbers and looked like they were brand new but they were technically still the old trailer.
The reason behind this was for tax purposes. From what I was told, a trailer can be stripped to the chassis and be totally rebuilt without having to pay taxes on the unit as a new trailer.
A unit that was built in 1990 for example could be completely rebuilt in 2000 and it would still be a 1990 trailer. I don't know if this had anything to do with CF owning the trailer manufacturer or not but I bet it saved them a lot of money.
