"Mr. Jacobs said XPO will retain Con-way’s core less-than-truckload business as part of its broad portfolio of logistics businesses. XPO still aims to be a “one-stop shop” for shippers, but will focus on market segments where the company has a significant lead on competitors, he said."
-"Until strategies change."
It never made sense for a company that made it's money booking loads, to keep Truckload. They finally got the price they wanted. And not at all surprised that it's a Canadian fleet. Likely Transforce were looking for lanes direct to Mexico. Win - win for both companies here.
Transforce has been buying trucking companies left and right up here.
I wonder what will happen to Terminator Tim?
Get a huge bonus. This was likely a special project for him. To make Truckload more appealing for sale.
Except for the 200 mill loss.
I looked at their website..... looks like they are the canadian xpo .. LOL
Very similar. Heavy hauler Mullen transport is another force up here. Both have been snapping up as many as possible.
Or not !
That's what the piece said...TransForce is a big player in the acquisition strategy of scaling up their business. They must be reading JB's play book.
Will xpo need more drivers for linehaul now?maybe they will hire more outside carriers.
That's messed up if they transferred him just to sell the unit he was transferred to.
Hope the drivers and ALL the affected employees get a better deal than they had here!
I am hearing rumors that XPO want's to purchase another LTL company???? Who it is, well that would be classified information at this point.
Doubt it. They need to make money and pay off debt. Not acquire more debt.
Its all about that stock price...Flat stock ? Sell something off to give it a bounce up .Wall street loves Layoffs, spinoffs and so on. Gordon Geckos at work.
Think! Nothing is sacred anymore .You guys need to wake up this is not Conway anymore!
I agree, that doesn't make sense to me . The network is already nation wide and Canada, so what strategic advantage would buying another headache be ??? But that's what Brad Jacobs seems to thrive on.
CON-WAY pad a big price for CFI , they took enoulf pay and benefits away from employees over the years to cover it , example 5% wage reduction , during the great ression , one week of vacation just to name a few things.
Don't forget the freezing of the pension in 2006. That was the really big benefit that they took from us.
You are absolutely right they did I hope everyone doesn't forget it either
