Haven't been. Its not an award from Batesville. Its an award from the Indiana Motor Truck Association, given to drivers with more than 25 yrs experience.

Been at Batesville since March 2009, after YRC laid me off, and told me to report back to them for 2 weeks of work, and then expect to be laid off and pay rate reduced. I didn't see my future there, so I quit.

Thanks, and yes. For the past 6 years I've run from Indy to Denver to Salt Lake City and back weekly. 166,000 miles a year, solo, with e-logs. Wyoming has June, July, and Winter!

Just changed routes. Indy to Northern Indiana, to El Paso, and return weekly. Not nearly as pretty as Utah.

One of our Drivers was last years IMTA Driver of the Year. Over 5 million Safe Miles.

Don,t think you guys could handle my last hard run.
Char N C to Jax Fla, Mon, Wed, Fri, 390 mi, all those big mountains, knee deep snow, at times I made it on just 1 nap.
Lot of times a Carolina or Corn Flake would have my napping place, it was tough, but I did manage 3 million mi safe driving.
Jimmy, I can remember when Batesville had signs on their trailers " Drive drunk, its good for our business"

Well,....you answered my question about sleeper bunks..........

90% of my driving was east of the Mississippi. Living in W. Pa. , I used to run NYC 3 times a week,.....hauling cars, and freight with my own truck. Ran a couple of times to LA. Once with a load of styrofoam cups as a team with my brother,.....once with a load of VW Rabbits,...GTO version, that they screwed up and advertised nationwide long before the West Coast had 'em.

Interesting,...........238 Detroit climbing the mountains on the far side of the Eisenhower,.....I almost felt like I should get out and walk in front of it with a leash.....

As near as I can figure,....when I retired, I had about 3 and a half million accident-free. Last 25 years city driver for ABF,.....lots of safety award patches,....even competed twice at the PMTA truck Driving Championships.....(never placed...) but if I was as incredibly lucky as Bro. Seabreeze here, and was able to stick it out with just one company,....maybe I would've racked up some impressive rewards.......

Looks like I'll have to be content with incredibly handsome, instead of incredibly lucky...........

That's how I plan to handle it. Do your descendants a favor and throw all those trophies and ribbons in the trash so they won't have to.

Backed into a car in 1977. Since, I've got 2 1/2 million OTR, plus 22 years running City Delivery. City is LOTS more dangerous.

You may want to rephrase that "incredibly handsome line" before jimmy gives you a Pinocchio award.

I've never worked city, but I see where you are coming from, even line drivers job is a lot more dangerous with todays
    traffic.
Sure, we had terrible roads, equipment was nothing like you have today, plus all the other crap they deal with today.
Our extra board was never gone more than 24hrs, unless they wanted to extend, not gone all week like some.
I feel we had a gravy train compared to todays traffic alone.

It's extremely different and extremely difficult nowadays. Today's drivers were never taught how to drive, yet they try texting while driving all day long.

I think ALL linehaul drivers should have a mandatory 1 year city experience.

I was thinking more along the lines of dispatchers getting that experience.
