I have it on good authority that Overland and Kingsway are merging, effective Monday. Kingsway is being absorbed into Overland, with all equipment in Toronto being relocated from Interport Sufferance Terminal on Dixie Road to the TST terminal on Maingate Drive a few blocks away. Seniority is being dovetailed and some 40 drivers are out in the cold between the two companies.
For any of you guys that deal with Overland, this is a heads up. Between this and a reduction in presence in Alberta (Lethbridge was given back to Canadian Freightways) things at Overland are being shuffled around some. Without Kingsway, Canadian Freightways is left with Vitran to serve eastern Canada. And I have heard that Vitran might be getting swallowed by QuikX in the near future.
Don't be too surprised if Saia's western Canada freight starts getting handled by CF down the road.
