TForce | Union Meeting in CGO

breeze, the point I am making is the pension and 401k are not under teamster control, the 401k can never be taken away just future contributions stopped.

The Pension is controlled by UPS and monitored by the teamsters. Now, the 401k I do wonder what will happen with this. I have been in a 401 for 27 years. I would Imagine that UPS took control of the 401k when we were bought by them, But what happens under a teamster contract. I wonder if our 401k will freeze and then have to be rolled over to the Teamster 401k. Or does UPS have there own parcel teamster 401k?

The 401 is in the Teamster grasp as we speak but is managed by CITISTREET. I think if there was going to be a different investment firm we should have or will be hearing soon.

breeze, how could brown screw the managers out of there pension or 401? And not the employees?

Brown can do anything it wants...they control the purse strings on the non-union pension and it is not a guaranteed thing that will always be there. As far as the 401k, they could just stop contributing to it...a million things could happen to it. ENRON anyone ?

I am not gonna argue with you becuase you make up facts as you go.

so here argue with the contract.

I have said many times we do not get a teamster pension. We or the managers are no better off as far as the pension goes with the union.

The 401k is never in the companies hands they can never touch it. Even if the company goes bankrupt your 401k will still be there.

The pention plan is the pention plan according to this document, at no point does it state 401K, THE 401k IS NOW overseen inbetween UPS and the Teamsters, but is managed by CITISTREET.

The pention is still the same and will not change, allthough pending on what is negotiated in the future ,it could .

In my opinion where we "lost it" was the availibility of easy credit monthly payments 100% financing, basically we were put to sleep by our creditors.
Somehow the concept of saving and pay as you go was lost and our ability to stand up and say NO was lost as well.
The last time I went looking for a vehichle.(2000) The first thing out of the salespersons mouth was, what kind of vehichle are you looking for and the second was what kind of a payment are you looking for? Not how much do you want to spend. BTW I bought a 2 yr old vehicle payed for it and am still driving it.
When you/we are in the position of being a "borrower is slave to the lender" (Proverbs) then your/our ability to say no is greatly compromised.
You gotta stand for something or you will fall for anything.:smilie_132:

You have a great point....FEAR!!!!!....If we aint free....we are afraid of what might happen to us.....Jobs, houses. cars all carry way too much weight when we owe....And in turn we will put up with whatever to feel safe....Be it captivity or not....

There is a book just published called "LIVE FREE OR DIE" it makes for good reading, I am not saying I am in full belief of it's teachings but brings the point home.

Here in america more and more people everyday are looking for a socialistic country, and have come to the conclusion that most on capital hill know best.

The problem is most on capital hill are being paid by big business to minipulate the laws for thier own agenda. What about our's, for this is what we pay taxes for, Its truelly pitiful. Having a voice is a benefit. I do not care what anyone says.

Well it doesn't really matter if you want what we have had for the last 250 years or you think it needs to change...The point is to not just sit back and let it be fed to you....SAY something....Your opinion or whatever and quit sticking our heads in the sand waiting for it to blow over....And it is all what we are fed on a daily basis that leads to that control....Look good, feel good and take or what ever it takes to acheive either as easily as possible....Credit and prescription drugs....They cure everthing!!!! But with these things we get numb and don't want to see it, cause it ruins the illusion these two thing create....

And if you get fired for something STUPID...Your 401k or pension isn't going to mean NOTHING.....So who cares....Man this arguement is one that will never end if you need to feel warm and fuzzy with a 401k go were it is operated how you want....Tis is over and out of our hands...I want to keep my job out of someone elses hands....No guarentees but with out a contract....No vest, some stupid mistake and all that I have worked for could be gone without me being able to say a damn thing.....And since day one I have asked ....How many people do you know receiving an union pension compared to someone getting a company pension or living off their 401k????? In my world the union pensions FAR out weigh any of the other 2!!!!!

And in the world of UPGF, you will not have a teamster pension. It's your choice.

I, like most, think an ENRON situation would be associated with the teasters long before UPS.

And no, I misspelled no words.:1036316054::hysterical::hysterical:

How about put some stronger language in our contract. Look at the NMFA or Parcel language on subcontracting. Basically they both say they can only be used only after the road board is exhuasted & during peak seasons. Look I understand there is going to be subcontracting. Let's be realistic. But we have to minimize it. If every one is working that's fine. But what Indy has in thier contract will let the company do the same as they are now. Which is starve our co-workers. With the subcontracting language in the Indy Contract I see the line-haul operation shrinking not expanding like we would rather see.

The ball is in our court. We vote no on the contract union gets no dues and UPS gets bad publicity and possible walk out.:1036316054:

:1036316054:Now that Sacramento is union awaiting a contract can we post on the union forum?
It was confirmed today by local 150
