How about pay top $$$ for driver instead of buy another company...Vitran Corporation Inc. (TSX: VTN)(NASDAQ: VTNC), a North American transportation and logistics firm, today announced the purchase of retail supply chain management specialist Las Vegas/L.A. Express, Inc. (LVLA) (www.lvla.com), based in Ontario, CA. The acquisition consideration was approximately $12.6 million in cash, including assumed debt of approximately $2 million and $4.35 million of contingent consideration, based on achievement of future performance metrics. The transaction closed today, November 30th. hopes it's not another seira west deal

They used to have a nice little local LTL niche, now I think they are primarily in the business of warehousing and distribution for Department stores.

have to agree with hunter!! how bout giving the drivers a pay raise. i live in a market with a major ups hub. fedex is opening a 235 door terminal. we have all 4 big union carriers here, fed ex nat., fed ex freight, aaa cooper, conway, old d, r&l, averrit, saia, estes, mid-states, towne and frieght, and central ex. vitran is the least paid in this market?!?! pretty sad or funny when central exp and mid-states makes more on the hour.
 
midstates suck trust me ive worked their .they are self insured and dont pay sh** .some people had a back bone and voted for a union .unfortuatnatlly mine didnt so i left

I used to work for them and they do mostly distribution freight. When I worked there some of our bigger accounts were Gap, Old Navy, Banana Republic, Starbucks, Blockbuster,etc. They also had warehousing services.
