I think you nailed it, SinC. The ABF acquisition would have given the company the freight, the employees and the collateral they needed to refi the debt. Many of those whining about it never tried to see the big picture. Heck, the raises would have probably kicked in and the pension contributions could have been dealt with. We wouldn't be talking about a new contract.

That's why the executives get the big bucks. I wish some of these disgruntled ex-employees would just let them do their job in peace.

And how many would have been laid off from Yellow and from Roadway during the economic downturn if they had remained separate?

I have lots of friends from a variety of industries that have either taken pay cuts or been laid off during the last five years.
 
But ABF doesn't have that many people so if there was it would only be half that many from the bottom of the list after any merge.
Mostly all of this is nonsense since it didn't happen and won't happen now.

If the yrcw executives would have done what they were being paid to do, yrcw wouldn't be in this position... Your so called executives are the very ones bankrupting this company... NOT THE TEAMSTERS

ill be glad when this is over so you can go back under the rock you crawled out from under . do they pay you supers by the post or by the word hope you can live with your self . these teamsters you are trying to pull the wool over on are hard working men and women . you should try it instead of sloppy 2nds or any scraps the boss man tosses you .

poor management yes................ but there's a lot of are coworkers who drag there feet to get overtime, spend more time talking then working or screwing off or standing at the time clock 20 minutes before there shift is done............... so blame them to cause maybe we wouldn't be here complaining about givebacks if everyone of those 70s mentality teamster actually did fairs days work a lot of them are why the union has a bad name and the company has poor o/r

Wow, talk about hostile! BTW, I'm NOT a supervisor, a manager or any of those things you think are insulting. Keep guessing. Maybe a tin-foil hat is in order?
