Washington truck driver notices fire on top of rig on interstate

An out-of-state truck driver was horrified when he looked out his rear mirror about 2:45 p.m. Wednesday afternoon while passing under the Highway 28 bridge on Interstate 44 and saw the top of his semi truck on fire.

Things didn't get better when he pulled his truck onto the shoulder of the expressway. Viktor Ukrainets of Spokane, Wash., saw flames shooting more than 30 feet in the air out of his diesel exhaust stacks.

“I stopped, didn't know what was happening, but heard a noise,” Ukrainets said.
