What are chances for foreign driver to get hired?

That's not "free", it is paid for by the taxes.

In my state, the people who own property subsidize the public education system (kindergarten through high school) via a portion of their property taxes. Since I have no children I pay for the children of losers who rent and do not own real property to get a primary education.

And the schools are not turning out Einsteins either.
Racer, the building owner pays school taxes on the property, which are then passed on to the renters. They really don't get a free ride. However, I have no kids yet I pay school tax for those who have kids but depend on a socialistic economy to get them their edumications.

And I like lakes, islands and fishing. Could show up in late July for a week or two and leave.

ABF er. Did you forget about Sweden?? Hear they have a great bikini team!!

Maybe you can join the try outs for the team

i still have an original Playboy magazine with these gals....i'd have to look up the year they were in it.

I could at least go looking for those babes. Sooo Denmark, Finland and Sveden should be good time. Ice fishing? I'd need a guide for that, I've never done it.

Well if these companies would pay their drivers more and treat them better they would not have to go overseas to fill seats.
Why pay more if they can easily reach overseas to cheaply fill the seats? Just one of our many problems in this country. And this has been an age old problem when you think about it. Coal miners had many nationalities move in and cut the rate, building trades of all types, lettuce pickers, lawn mowers and the list goes on and will probably continue 'til the end of time.

The US isn't the only country to gig the trucking industry with taxes. I thought we had a monopoly on tax happy politicians.

Janne Jokinen = Hmmm well id say if youre a hardcore Finland fan, you will have fun but if youre just a "normal tourist", youre not gonna like it here. Winter is 6 months long, lasting from October till April. Summer goes fast, like in 2-3 months. And our defense secretary is swedish and never been at army :'D Ohh and all men in Finland HAS to go to army (or "civil service" OR go to prison for 365 days)

Except for the "forced into military conscription", reads similar to costs in New Zealand.

Doubtful I'll ever see Finland in person.

Thank You Janne.
WE Hope The Best Adventures to You and Yours in ALL Endeavors!!

Hello everyone!

Im Janne Jokinen, living in Finland (North-Europe). Id like to know what are my chances to get hired by trucking company in Usa?
I graduated last September 2013 (As class A- driver) and ever since been looking for a trucking job here in Finland but it seems so hard because of the depression.
I visited California twice in the past 6 months. Even had one job interview but i think it lead to nothing, never heard from them ever again.
I have also sent maaaaany emails to different trucking companies but most of them dont reply back to me and if they do, its usually no-no.

So, my fellow truckers, what do you think are my chances to get hired by american trucking company? Do companies there usually hire foreign drivers, outside of Us?

Thanks to all whole replies!

Ps. Im 23 if that matters.

Pretty good I would say! I have trained a lot of "foreigners" over my 12 years as a driving instructor and as long as the work ethic and willingness is there, any company would be glad to have you. After all we are all from somewhere else if you go back far enough. But beware of those companies in the US that require you to lease a truck from them. This is how they get you the employee to make their truck payment for them and because you are from Finland, they may see you as being more gullible.

Good luck and Finnish well!

Greetings again!

Just asking something simple... Trucks in Usa, most them has Eaton Fuller gearbox? :o Or not? :/

Most all of them. Some have the "Autoshift" or "Ultrashift" that do all the shifting for you. And some of the Volvo trucks have the Volvo I-Shift, which is similar to the Autoshift and Ultrashift.

Many of the larger carriers have gone to the gearboxes that have automated shifting because they are employing drivers that are untrainable and tear up clutches, transmissions, differentials and driveshafts.

Those that still have fully manual gearboxes run from 8 or 9 speeds, to 13 or 18 speeds. But once you learn how to drive a truck with a manual gearbox, moving from one gear combination to another is pretty simple.

The only real difference is the Super 10. You split every gear, and there is no "low side" or "high side".

Yes, either that or automatic. Automatics are up and coming here.

Automatics are for girls and sissies who can't learn how to shift.

The way I see it, if a driver can't learn how to shift and manage the gearing and power, without tearing up clutches, trannies, driveshafts and differentials, then they need to stick to a Toyota Corolla.

Drivers who don't tear stuff up cost extra, more than an automatic transmission.
