PO, Does the thought of over 20000 people losing their jobs make you happy? It sure seems that way

What is your position at Overnite?

ya should definetly ask LEO and his PRESTON pals at overnite[upsf] about PRESTON,that's where they came from, and boy did they sure steal & sucked enough out of there before bailing to head over to 'O',also ask him all about his wonderful tenure at RYDER/P.I.E NATIONWIDE,same happened there, ask anyone who worked at either, was'nt he supposed to be a 'turnaround specialist':nutkick: ,so was JACK BRINKO when he came to CF before they went under! see in a month how being an 'at will employee & nonunion flexibility :nutkick: 'are treating you when Brown really starts to get things running:sadwavey:

Wiggle Wagon, all your posts make alot of sense to me. I am also a west coast M.C. line driver and had a decent cut in pay after the edge conversion. The Union has my vote.
I am out of the Rocky Mountains for MC and I am with you all the way. Cut in pay, way more restrictions, slower trucks and being told to be PATIENT and it will all get better!!!!! UH WHEN!!!!!

I don't recall anybody saying we made so much more than you. However, even a little more is more.
Was it in the new Rulebook that UPSF will change the delay and weather pay? Did the new Rulebook give you guys a grievance process for when one of the bosses breaks the rules? Is there someone who will go to bat for any of you when you're fired for a not good enough reason? Remember, Human Resources is a dept. of the Company. Do you like paying for your health benefits? Did the new Rulebook change to give you guys full pay once the 4 hour delay in pay is over? Skeet,
It'll be a cold day in hell when UPSF does all these things on their own, but you guys have the power to do it yourselves right now. But then again, if you're totally happy with whatever UPSF decides you should and shouldn't have from now on I guess we have nothing to offer.

The problem with ol' skeet is that he can't see it from his house so out of sight out of mind. If it don't effect his little dream world than it is all good. I would like to know the last time he sat in a truck in the middle of a blizzard without any place to even take care of natures buisness. But hey if it is good enough for the ol' skeet than why can't we all see his great and superior wisdom. Sorry my skull has not evolved enough to get rid of how thick it is. I am praying that the good Lord will help me see the light and go peacefully off int the abiss with you. Only unions have propaganda and lies, companies always tell the truth and have all of our best interest in mind. I will get it!!!

Unity with blindness is a hard to accomplish. Those darn sticks seem better to beat each other on the head with than to actually find where we are going. But I am down with ya!!!!

What is your position at Overnite?

wow, sorry i hurt your feelings, but i would like an answer,
how's are those employees at CF, Preston, and all the other unionized carriers that shut down, how are they doing with their contract?

hows all those Ford and GM employees whose plants are getting ready to shut down, how are they doing with their contracts?

how about those airline employees and their contracts, i am sure bankruptcy court will look out for them

:biglaugh:

guess what, those union contracts dont mean crap if you dont have CUSTOMERS to pay your wages. and right now the CUSTOMERS are speaking with their wallets, Toyota and Honda plants are being built as US carmakers plants are being shuttered, the airline market needs another 1 or 2 carriers to shut down in order to again return to profitability, etc.

the unions and their members continue to think in a 1950s mindset while the rest of the world has moved on past them. its a GLOBAL marketplace today. economic darwinism is here, the weak die (CF, Preston, etc) while the strong survive. You can blame management if you want, but that just equates to saying unions carriers attract bad management...then its your fault for working for a company with bad management!!

so remember, that union contract that everybody loves to brag about, i doesnt mean squat if the customers arent paying for the goods and services you are offering. and if the union contract slaps on your employer wages, work rules, etc that makes your employer un-competitive, then you have written your own pink slip..

and before everybody does the typical teamster rebuttal (i'm a manager, i'm a suck up, i'm blowing leo suggs, etc etc etc), i've heard it all. i'm not in management, but i see how through history unions have failed to adjust to changing economies and have left in their trails bankrupt and shut down companies. its no wonder the % of unionized workers falls every year, its not the republicans fault, its not big old mean management, it not the chinese or mexicans fault....its their inability and unwillingness to adjust and change to the times....

so, i ask for a 3rd time, hows that union contract treating you CF employees??

:biglaugh: Have a little mercy. They are just teamsters and teamsters want a Be's.

You're exactly right that UPS is focusing on going international with the freight industry. I seen an article last year on Yahoo that UPS acquired a trucking company in Britian 7 months after acquiring us last year.

Just fine wise guy. I haven't lost a day of work, or health benefits, or pension contributions since Preston closed. If you have nothing intelligent to add, then keep your thoughts to yourself.

so to what do you credit the falling % of the work force that is represented by unions?

so if you cant rebut my position, just tell me to keep my mouth shut? i thought this thread was about unions, and should UPGF go union? well, i'm just offering a differnt take, and you tell me to keep my mouth shut...maybe thatswhy you do need a union, because you dont know how to think on your own and you therefore need the union to think for you???
