I saw one of those recently. I was kinda surprised, given FedEx's penchant for advertising their name everywhere they can.

Don't know what they hope to accomplish by removing their name from the side of the truck. Unless the contractors are being forced to get their own operating rights and their own plates and insurance, FedEx has nothing to gain.

And if FedEx does expect all of that now, they'd better raise the rates. Ground contractors aren't paid enough to take care of it all themselves.

Well howdy there, Billy! You be sure and tell the FedEx guys how it's done. They're all looking up to you.

I work at Speedy now, running freight over the border for Holland and SEFL. D&R treats their drivers like crap and the brokers allow it.

Probably wanted you to wear a turban to fit in at D&R. I'd leave too. I'm here to drive a truck, not Aladdin's flying carpet.

I can't complain because in the end I found a better deal and I own my own truck instead of driving someone else's. Wouldn't have quit if it hadn't started to suck. And I'm arguably happier now.

Most of the motoring public doesn't know that FedEx Ground are contractors. Maybe it's in hopes of salvaging their public Image with the way the contractors drive most of the time.

A lot of other truck drivers out there don't know the Ground drivers are contractors. I used to bump docks with LTL drivers who would complain to me how they drive. They were always surprised when I would let them know they are contractors and they can do as they please.

Then again, it could be to sway the court of public opinion with the many lawsuits they face with the contractor setups.

I wonder if they will now change the rules to allow multicolor trucks?

I've seen one guy get out his prayer rug and do his prayers beside the truck on the asphalt at a dock. Muslims are a dedicated bunch. He wore no turban, but he had on sandals with the long grungy toenails.

(Yes I kept a close eye on him. They have a propensity to blow themselves up)

The ones I see at D&R are Punjabi so they wear the cotton cowboy hat.

That company who always advertises how American their floor mats are had a little delivery van pull up and a guy got out with a prayer rug to start bowing down in the grass before going into the warehouse. Very American.

Until they take the name off of the trailer nobody's gonna notice it, especially a personal injury lawyer

All I see lately are brand new fed ex ground pup trailers with the new matching red lettering( yes they say ground). I have not seen any package vans without lettering. They Do list contractors names on them, ground does not hire individual package vans or tractors anymore. Owner ops lease onto small trucking companies that are hired by Ground. This way Ground avoids the whole contracor model since all the law suits.

Man this forum needs some big news. It's gotten slow around here. They need a center to file spark some life around here.
    :hide:

Maybe that's the big news? Several centers file for a vote to help stave off any decertifying push from some at the four union centers? :poke:

I was down in Alabama the other week looking at some property and I stopped and bought a 20 ounce Sundrop. I don't know what the hell they've done to the formula when they took it national with the 20-ounce plastic bottles, but it certainly isn't like the 12 oz glass bottles and 16 oz plastic bottles here at home.

It tasted like weak sugar water. It did not have any of the traditional burn at all. Here it has the citrus burn from the real orange juice used in the formula.

They certainly know how to screw up a good thing when trying to cheapen it up and take it national to make more money.

I'm not sure I can move now unless I can order it by the case and have it shipped. I guess if that isn't an option I'll have to make the 1,000 mile round trip back up here to get some when my supply is low. :guinesssmilie:

I never last long in Last. Just when I think I'm the last one to post in Last, I find out I'm first and no longer last in Last. It's almost as disappointing when you're drinking your last glass Sundrop from the bottom of the fridge.

Maybe it has to do with all the lawsuits brought against them by the owner operators and the $228 million settlement they had to pay would be my guess....

As I said, if the trucks are still plated by FedEx and operating under FedEx' authority, it doesn't matter. The trailers still have FedEx emblazoned on the side.

If they don't want anyone working for them, they need to pay more than they are and force the o/o's to be fully independent.

I spotted a contractor pulling an Old Dominion 53' trailer today. It was a large car with "contracted to Old Dominion Freight Lines Thomasville NC" on the door.
