I've been hearing from other drivers at HRS that everyone will be receiving forklift certification. Does that mean that all road drivers will be required to work the dock now? I certainly hope not. I'd like to have the option?

I believe for the most part that is true. Because of our wages highest in the industry we are becoming puddle jumpers. Rail and outside logistics will take our long haul. We will be mini hub specialist... This has been in their minds since the start of our contract. The glory days of trucking are over why do you think there is a severe shortage of truck drivers...

What a shame. I know I didn't get my CDL to be a dockworker (been there, done that)! Guess I'll wait and see how it pans out. If it comes to pass, I'll be circulating my resume faster than you can hit the send button!

I think it's an osha requirement , last company I worked for just did it for everybody. If you change your bid to dock or city you won't have to wait to get a cert.

At Hrs Road is a separate board from the rest of the operation, the only way to go from a road driver job to local cartage job is if you loose your medical certification. Then you go to bottom of the local cartage board.
