Central Transport | who and where and what

I worked at the "'Jax" many moons ago.
Back when you got paid to wait.
Then a guy, whose name I guess I can't
mention, came on board in Pittsburg and
put a stop to paid detention time.
Almost overnight 30% of the linehaul
guys quit and went elsewhere.
I ran out of a satellite lot of the HBG. terminal
where wait times became notorious.
Four or five hours were common.
At first I ran a meet where wait time
was paid.
Then the relay dried up and I found
myself on the sit list.
I left a long time ago as well as others.
From what I hear things haven't changed and
they still have trouble keeping linehaul guys.

Today, I run a double turn to Carlise, Pa.
for a well respected carrier.
I get about 512 miles a day @ .45 cpm
day in and day out M-Fri.
Trailers are pre-loaded from the day before
and the bills are in the trailer located in a
central lot with a key card gate.
I dispatch myself in/out on the Qualcom.
I never see anybody.
I'm in/out as long as it takes to
drop, hook, and go.
It's great.
PJAX should take lessons from these people.
They know how to do things right.

were glad you moved on and are happy :smilie_132: . you dont have to tell us on every thread how bad you had it over here . we get the point . you didnt like it here .

i'm a driver at plg been there for 9yrs are there any others terminals that are giving days off to the drivers

not in cleveland . they gave one road driver the day off last monday and thats been it all year . he was back the next day . i cant speak for the city drivers though . . .

Grand Rapids here, anywhere from 1 to 3 drivers off everyday for the past couple weeks, it seems to be picking up a bit though. Were got a few new accounts comming online in the next couple weeks.

stained reputations,,,

I left about the time PJAX made CNN Headline News re: that class action
sexual harrasment lawsuit in Pittsburg.
Management settled out of court for a seven figure number divided
equally among all the plantiffs involved.
Anybody remember that?
During that time a pair of brothers were running the HBG. terminal.
Those of you there long enough know the two in question.
The second in command, whom I shall call Mr. M, was famous
for stealing freight off the dock.
Toys, tools, plasma tv's, and even an entire skid of laptop computers
disappeared. Several dock guys saw hime take the stuff but kept their
mouths shut of fear of losing their jobs.
He would also sell fuel to O/O who came into HBG. at half price
and pocket the cash.
I personally saw him do this several times.

He was also in kahoots with two P&D drivers out of Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
who were also selling goods off the back of the truck.
How do I know this?
Cause a good freind of mine was a yard jockey at Lord & Taylor in
Wilkes-Barre and he, and the receptionist, were both approached
by one of these P&D drivers to buy stuff off the truck.
He would write things up short and sell it for cash. :1036316054:
My buddy reported him to Pittsburgh but they turned a blind eye.
Makes you wonder why they let rampant theft continue unabated.
Eventually Mr. M came under investigation by local authorities in HBG.
who interviewed driver and dock personell re: the issue.
Pittsburgh finally told him resign or be prosequted. :biglaugh:
And then there was one of the cousins in Pitt who was transporting
firearms across state lines in some of the linehaul trucks. :biglaugh:
Anybody remember that one?
The FBI was in on that fiasco.
The Jax has a reputation all right.
One that doesn't shine to bright I'm afraid.
:smilie_132: to you too, bud....

Dude, cool your jets.
Don't worry.
Everythings' cool.
Yes I have moved on and thank you, I appreciate your concern.
And to an out fit that knows what they're doing.
Just trying to enlighten other perspective applicants what they can expect
after several posts asked for information about appying to the Jax.
I wasn't talking to you specifically so don't take things so personally.
I was in reply to some general posts about sitting for hours and hours
and hours and hours without any form of compensation.
Many in this thread complain of same.
If you generally get in/out quick then more power to you.
You're one of the chosen few.
I am relating the experience of many others I knew there as well as my own.
