I see guys from Yellow,Roadway, and Newpenn,on my route, that ask me how the organizing is going with UPS Freight?
I can only tell them what info I get on the truckingboard.

I don't hear anything at our terminal,or anywhere else.

They also don't seem to know anything.

They ask me when I'm going to retire seeing I'm over 62 now?
They all know what I'm going to say,but they must love hearing me say it?

I say as long as God keeps blessing me with good health I'm staying with it.
That really blows their minds, then they all say how much they hate what their doing, and can't wait to have enough time to retire.

Most of my co-workers still like their jobs.

Who knows the grass always seems greener somewhere other than where your standing.

May the Lord direct your path it works for me.

Apostolic,

Not every card carrying Teamster knows what is going on. Same holds true for unorganized drivers as well. Only those that are involved or have reason or dedication to be involved will have answers you seek. Personally, I love my job. I was in an accident last sept. and have been out since, and it kills me to sit home rehabbing and waiting to get better so I can get back behind the wheel. I am 49 and have 8 years to go before retirement. Although I love my job, I do not plan to stay after I reach the time to retire. Retirement is meant to enjoy the fruits of your labors. In addition to my job, I run a small business on Long Island...http://www.windstar-charters.com/ I do this part time right now and will likely switch to full time after retirement. Feel free to look me up anytime you are down in my neck of the woods....(this goes for everyone). One request....union/nonunion talk will be left at the dock...:joke: I just prefer to see myself lifting a fishing rod in 8 years than a box of freight.

One thing to consider about how the job affects people is that in your environment and mine, management is loaded with buttheads that have no clue how the job is actually done. Never did anything more than push paper, but they are gonna tell you how to drive, where to go, how to load/unload, and how long it should take you. This in and of itself is enough to make anyone leave the business once thay can afford to do so.

Apostolic it sounds like you have a good attitude. I would like to work with people like you. I bet you respect your fellow workers and welcome the new guys. I bet you treat all woman with the most respect and you are loyal to your boss. GOD does bless you. I'll bet there are guys who want to break your spirit. The old saying it's a back stabing business. I've seen guys tell the boss things about other drivers and sometimes lie. Most of them have there own problems they won't deal with. Alot of the problems at UPSF are within. Dealing with people can the crazyiest part of my day if I let it. It happens everwere. Union or nonunion in the end I hope we can all be loyal. The teamsters push is going to happen when Washington gives the nod.

Your right skull the bible life is the only way to live.

When someone thinks their hurting me their only hurting themselves.
I always forgive anyone that thinks their going to get me one way or another.
I live a very peaceful life.
Nobody gives me a hard time because I won't receive it.
The TM I have now tryed his best to fire me because I wouldn't go along with a lie he was caught in.
My Pastor had my church pray for me.
I prayed also for myself on the way to worked asking how I could do something good for this man.
I was able to find some little things to help him with that he didn't have to admit anyone was doing.
All my co-workers were afraid of him,so they just went along with him.
They all wanted me to slow down to find ways to hurt him,but in a short time of me finding ways to help him,the whole issue fell by the wayside.
Now I'm very good friends with him,and can help him out openly where he's forever thanking me for it.

Just goes to show you what goes around comes around not always in a bad way.
