Heard it here first.
Central Freight announces they have purchased all assets of Wilson Trucking
Are you sure it was central freight ? or was it central transport ?
Yes sir, Central Freight. Buying them to help their efforts in covering the SE
I heard Central Transport but it was purchased
it was freight ...so sad for those drivers still at Wilson. I was hoping it would be Ward to buy them
Well the good thing is that it was someone moving into the SE so, I'm sure their jobs will be okay.
Dont know much about Central but it would be hard for me to believe,it would be a step down for their employees.
Here's the story
It may turn out for the better. Wilson has partnered with Central for years
I wonder if Central is buying the entire operations or just parts of it.I would sure as hell rather take a shot with Central, than be part of another Wilson downsizing.Hopefully for the guys still there,it will be the entire outfit.
Maybe they will keep the truckload division
If I worked there,I would be praying for a complete buyout of the LTL part of it,Baltimore to Miami...
The buy out is everything...customers, contracts real-estate and equipment
Wow. Well I guess we can't say the writing was not on the wall for some kind of change.
Think it will be a positive for the employee's for sure.
Office employees are out of a job...some were given 60 days.
All truckers, dock workers, technicians and others out in the field still have a job (if Central wants the employees, it's really up to them if they want to hire them).
Said they saved thousands of people's jobs, but a couple hundred are now out of a job on March 31st.
Central Freight Lines moved into Atlanta area about a year or so. I believe that they are owned by Swift if I'm not mistaken.
I believe Swift owns central refrigerated (truckload). I don't believe they own Central Freight Lines.
The individual that owns the majority shares of Swift owns Central Freight Lines. Look at the Central Freight Lines board
Surely they will need to retain some office personnel. They may have to go through the application process and be treated as a new hire but I would think office employees will be needed.I think it will be an upgrade for the workers retained, across the board....GL
