Are other terminals telling the hourly employees that they won't let them work out their notice? Just had a driver turn in his notice yesterday and the terminal manager told him we didn't need him anymore. Not sure if it's the terminal manager throwing a temper tantrum or corporate recently started this policy. It didn't use to be this way.

That's their unofficial policy. Only way to work out a notice 99% of the time is retirement or going active duty in the military. They don't want the driver leaving talking about where they are going.
