So we can thank a union barn for losing 2mins pay on our hook time..2mins x 2 hook and 2 drops per day at a min x 5 days x est 45 weeks in a year= 30hrs or $900 per year lose.
Hell no , that was 15 years ago under Con-way. Lol . The guys who held the stop watch when this guy did was a supervisor. He’s died about 7 -8 years ago . The funny thing was these guys thought it was a contest of some sort . The fastest guy wins .
I’m sorry that I ruined your little thing there to put down unions but no one was even thinking of unionization at the time that happened. Lol

This happened in the recent past with Central Transport. It led to them getting all new equipment.

*At least that's what I've heard*
It did and their new equipment dosen't look new very long from guys tearing it them up and company not fixing them. I think YRC is in same situation but got government money to update their fleet

So lets break down this CSA thing.....
Over the past 24months we had 4,791 DOT inspection from a level 1 to a level 3.
Of those 4,791 inspection we had 1,932 with maintenance violation.
Of that 4,971 inspection 1,105 were HM placardable vehicle inspection.
Of those 1,105 HM inspection there were 205 HM compliance violation found.
SO Lets Break it Down the Top 10
Of the 1,932 Maintenance Violation
*222 were for inoperable required lamp
*150 were brakes out of adj
*88 were for bad Auto slack Adj
*80 were for Inspection
*72 were for NO or defected ABS light
*69 were for inop turn signal
*64 were for tread depth less then 2/32
*57 were for kinking or chafing of brake hose or tubing
*52 were for brakes (general)
*47 were Brakes out of service
How many should have been seen with a simple walk around inspection??? 222 lights were out, 69 turn signals, and 64 tread depth. Easy to see and you don't even have to get under the truck or trailer..

Of the 205 HM violations
*36 were vehicle NOT placarded
*21 were packaged not secure in vehicle
*19 were shipping paper accessibility
*19 were No Placards/Marking when required
*10 were prohibited placarding (basically meaning wrong placards or placards with no freight onboard)
*9 were No or improper shipping papers(carrier)
*8 were Placards not securely affixed or attached
*6 were Accessibility to ERG
*5 HM not distinguished from non HM on shipping papers
*5 No or improper shipping name
Of these 10 only two, the second and last one, should have been caught by the driver. The last one any bill without a shipping name is also on the driver. Also the driver has the right per the company to break a seal and inspect his load. Most of the unsecured HM is found by DOT just opening the back door and if the driver loaded it and did not secure it then it on him too.
Also there were:
*565 under the Unsafe Driving Violation tab of those 293 over half were from speeding
*101 were HOS violations of those 25 were from the driver not having blank log sheets.
*50 were driver fitness like license, Med card issues
*1 was for drugs/alcohol violation..Yes we had one that was drunk and had a 5th of whiskey in the truck with him.
In some case multiply violation could have been given in one stop like this dated 24 Aug 20 in Texas.

This is eye opening. Thanks for taking the time to post in a easy to read and understand format. I think a lot of us get complacent and are in way too much of a hurry. In a hurry to dispatch and get to your first stop. Hurry to dispatch and get down the road to the FAC.
