http://articles.mcall.com/1990-01-19/news/2734076_1_mack-spokesman-mack-trucks-ralph-e-reins This is a story from years back about a group of workers saving their localities and jobs in Hagerstown,MD and Allentown PA. I love the fear they instilled in corporate paid politicians. You don't keep business by bending over backwards and doing everything they want. Only politicians benefit by that. My dad was in that group. He wasn't an official. Just a union truckmaker. The lesson is this: Unions keep work here. Allowing business to do what it wants allows them too leave. Unions and contracts and lobby to keep them here does so. They scared the whole antiunion redstate mentality. That's what is MOST needed today. Happy Memorial Day to the guys who fought to keep what makes a nation worthwhile. 10 years or so my dad and his buddies drove back and forth from PA to SC to keep jobs here. Mack is still here. That's how it's done.
