We retire perfectly good Sterlings every year. Good for the city I should say as I don't want roll one at night. If we are going to grow into the company I think we can and should become, they definitely need to keep some of those Sterlings and keep buying new Freightliners.XPO wants to CUT COSTS , and the Sterling's trucks run forever , so new trucks maybe slow at coming with XPO ???

I guess. You can tell the age of Con-way ( XPO ) equipment by the number. I never bothered to learn how that works.
I drive a 2016 city tractor ( according to the paperwork ) it was delivered in March or April but the number is XXX-55XX. So I guess this system is based on the year the equipment was received and not the year it's titled for?The first digit after the dash is the model year. 432-0668 is a 2010. 432-7316 is an '07. You didn't notice that all the new automatics this year start with 5?

Thank you for explaining this.

432 is just a normal truck. 632 is a complete refurb. never seen a 532. If you see an 05 and a 15 and can't tell which is which, well, then check the odometer.
I wonder what the 0**, 132, 232 trucks are or if we have them. I know we have 332's. Typically, in my experience 332's are complete refurbs with a radio usually and 7-speeds.
Well yes on the 332. I was under the impression all the 632s were rounded up and turned into 332s.
Do forget the 478 city units.
And 434-xxxx (road unit) and 476-xxxx (city) for our friends like Up North!Well yes on the 332. I was under the impression all the 632s were rounded up and turned into 332s.

I've seen a few old cf trailers in people's yards around here, same sequence.True! I wonder why they chose those numbers for those trucks and what it all means and such.
I've saw researching on the net of pictures of old consolidated trucks/trailers and they seem to have similar numbering schemes.
Must be something they carried over like tons of other things.
Check your history. 432's were used by CCX, 632's were used by CSE, I believe CWX used 832's. If I'm wrong on CWX, I will stand corrected.432 is just a normal truck. 632 is a complete refurb. never seen a 532. If you see an 05 and a 15 and can't tell which is which, well, then check the odometer.
CWX was 532 for line power Sterling, 524 for twin screws, and 578 for city power. With the intoduction of the freightliner we now also have 432s, 632s, and 478s.Check your history. 432's were used by CCX, 632's were used by CSE, I believe CWX used 832's. If I'm wrong on CWX, I will stand corrected.
We have 2012 Freightliners that we got new in 12 that are 632s and I'm in CCX territory. I think the 632s are later in the year releases.432 is just a normal truck. 632 is a complete refurb. never seen a 532. If you see an 05 and a 15 and can't tell which is which, well, then check the odometer.
At my barn in CCX territory the 478 and 578 are city kitty's and the 332 are refurbished sterlings, and the 432,532 and 632's are all road tractors. I've seen all different years of Freightliners Share the 432, 532 and 632 prefix.
