Just curious, got caught up in the mess this week, but my worst time was in Iowa, a few year back going down I 35 toward KC the wind blowing a constant 25 to 30 miles out of the west, I was good to Des Moines, loaded from Omaha, but when they said empties from Des Moines to KC I said to myself man I should just say screw it and go to the hotel, but being my dumb ass self I went anyway and man made it for awhile until a tanker went in the middle another truck and another car and I seen that big Casino sign and after running the shoulder because that is where I could get some traction up those little hills, I pulled into the casino called dispatch said I was done, well best thing I ever did was shut that puppy down that night.
Carry my little propane heater with at all times in the winter, spread across those seats that night and had some good sleep, got up the next morning and headed my way to KC.
As I get older I realize it just is not worth risking my life anymore.

Cut Bank,Montana...1982...26 degrees below zero...18" snow..Black ice everywhere....Found me a warm place to be...She was so warm....I just wished she wasn't so hairy and wanted berries all the time...

(The first part was true..The last part, well, use your imagination...)

when I first started driving I stayed in the northeast. Ice road trucking is chicken **** pre schooler tonka toy junk compared to the weather I've been in. lol. That was when I was 21, stupid and didn't know how to say no. Estes pretty much will shut us down but I did bobtail to Tom's store at Harrisburg once when they had that 30"+ storm. Went up through there like a baja. I guess nothing has changed since I was 21. I'm just older.

In a normal week on linehaul, if you go home after 6 days out, how far does Estes usually work you away from your yard? I would be running out of Athens GA, so I'm just wondering how far I could expect to roam.

Miami Houston, Dallas, Kansas city, St Louis, Chicago, Toledo, West Middlesex Pa, Buffalo, Eddison Nj, Richmand and everywhere in between. I'd say 85% of the time it would be anywhere in between and 5% it would be beyond the the perimeter
