We had a senior driver who thought the grass was greener, and quit Central after 20 years to join Yellow. He was immediately put on the On-call list, worked 3 days a week, and had to hook sets every night, do a 2nd shift. I saw him at a delivery stop, and he told me it was the biggest mistake he ever made. Eventually quit, when he was forced to go over the road due to a senior driver, taking his job.

Every where I have worked in the Teamsters there are two boards, Road and City. And you can not be forced to the other board if you do not want to go.

While I am not calling you a liar, your story does not match real life. Just say'n.

If I was living in the US Midwest, I'd work for Holland long before I'd work for Central Transport. They're hiring for city and combo drivers in Toronto, and you can almost hear the crickets chirping.

Congratulations to these guys for finally getting some new rigs.

In my city the only thing newer than their tractors is the "now hiring" sign on the fence around their terminal. The signs have been up for YEARS - even when economy is slow.

This is often the case. You will start on a casual board and are lucky to work 3 to 4 days per week and usually on the dock
