Funny Now yrc is spending money on radio ads to get drivers and dock workers .

Yeah ,been doing radio ads in our area about 3 or 4 times a year ,BUT problem is all the Non-Union companies pay more per hour and a matching 401-K and less Hostile work environment !

Then why is UPS doing the very same thing (radio ads) when they are unionized and pay more?

Agree on the work environment, or lack of accountability....

Well Uncle Trip , because down in Louisville , UPS pay's $32. hour to our's $21& chump change , so our Driver's have been Quitting and going over there . I know you would work for YRCW for $1.35 hour cause your Cousin James Welch hired you , but not everybody thinks that way ................. like the saying goes, "Show me the Money" ......................

Ups does adds each year prior to the Holidays, but companies like Yellow, Roadway, Holland, New Penn in the past never had to advertise to get drivers.

Heck as most seasoned guys know there used to be a stack of applications a couple inches thick at these places with the hope that you would get a call.

Sure it’s not the old days, and sure the entire industry is short of drivers. Back then and it could have been still if they didn’t extend the crap sandwich in 14’ these companies would have been able to have the ability to entice experience to come over. Unfortunately for us and the company this is no longer the case, the die is set and the only ones to be blamed are the company itself.

Sure we may get some stragglers with experience but they are not beating down the doors like the old days to come over. For the most part we are the training center for driving school grads going into the future now. The incentives no matter how much we want to beat our chests are not really what they used to be.

At one time for the privilege to drive the ugly trucks and put up with the crap we put up with the pay and bennies as well as the pension were the calling card. Take two of the big 3 off the table and the possibility of the 3rd in 19’ and what are you left with?

Advertising on the radio for a job that experienced guys once coveted to get on with...
