The first time I heard that come from the Union, I knew it would be all downhill from there.
And for the Freight Division anyhow - we are just about at rock bottom.
Why do I think of the old story about Nero playing his fiddle (cithara) while Rome burned in 64 AD, oblivious as to what was happening around him? Similar to what Hoffa and his pals have been doing while the Teamster Freight Division falls apart before their eyes. They not only do not try to stop it, they have helped it along. The same with the CSPF. The IBT, Hoffa,Jr., Bill Lichtenwald and Thomas Nyhan made sure that ERISA was abolished in 2014, under the MPRA of 2014, effectively removing all former retiree protections that stood since 1974. They are allowing the destruction of what the Teamsters was originally built on. The Freight Division is crumbling while they stand by and watch.
If you guys think the horse is dead why do you keep kicking it?
Good question. Why are so many otherwise sensible, realistic and well-informed hard working people allowing them selves to be conned by false promises made by slick-talking con artists? It is becoming a ponzie scheme that makes Bernie Madoff look like an amateur and the 2001 ENRON Corp failure look like "small potatoes". Why? is a good question. So far the top brass at YRC (with Hoffa's blessing) has managed to siphon off over $2.3 billion from YRCW paychecks and they're not done yet. Why are so many people so blind?
I guess you could ask the 918 people who blindly followed Jim Jones to Jonestown, Guyana in 1978. Problem is, you can't. They're all dead. They all committed suicide en masse. They followed the lies and believed the promises of their con artist leader, too. Why? We'll never know.
While we are not talking about mass suicide at YRCW, the mass control of so many people (26,000 YRC only - 32,000 YRCW combined) by slick con men is staggering. I think even THEY are amazed at what THEY have accomplished without costing themselves a dime personally. They even gave themselves raises and big bonuses. If you want to use the analogy of "kicking a dead horse" - How about another one such as the "vultures" (YRC brass) picking the bones of that "dead horse" (YRCW) as long as there is even a scrap of meat left.
That's our choice to continue with this company if we so choose too. Hearing how bad it is from the one who chose to leave or are still here and complaining constantly but won't leave is quite annoying I think we all know how bad it is here by now.
That's all well and good for those that voted YES to give back 15% of pay plus vacations and other benefits, but what about all those that voted NO, but are still forced to go along with the spineless majority? A majority NO vote would have called the company's bluff or simply ended the pain a long time ago. Now it is a "green light" for any other union company to do the same. They know the Teamster Freight Division is all talk and no action.
Careful henry you'll make hoffa BANG HIS FIST ON THE DESK, then, he'll do.............nothing
Majority rules on vote. It sucks i know but if they didn't like outcome the door is open for them. I meet more no voters now and I'm left wondering where is all these yes voters at? Membership is part of them blame just as much as Hoffa IMO
Just like I said.....there is no "brotherhood" or backbone in the Teamster movement any more. If we won't stick together, then we die together.
As far as the Freight Division is concerned, it looks like death is certain. Then Hoffa can continue to claim great things with the remaining 21 Divisions to get his union dues. There will be no more coming from the Freight Division. The original founders of the Teamsters - Shea, callihan, Tobin, Beck and James R. Hoffa must be turning in their graves to see what is happening to the beginnings of the Teamster movement headed by the son of one of them.
One of the past IBT Presidents, Roy Williams, was the only one since James R. Hoffa that actually tried to save the Teamster Freight Division.
He was convicted of "attempted" bribery of US Senator Howard Cannon (D) Nevada, to vote against an upcoming deregulation bill in trucking. Cannon claimed he never took the bribe, but Williams was convicted and Democrat President Jimmy Carter signed deregulation into law in 1980.
Teamster Freight Division, along with good Teamster jobs has been going into the toilet ever since the Democrats and Carter passed deregulation in trucking in 1980. Thanks for trying Roy Williams - you paid a big price. Why, after this bill was passed by the Democrats, I never could understand why the Teamster bosses continued to support the Democratic Party with millions of $$ and telling members to vote Democrat because "they have your back". The only thing Hoffa, Jr. is doing with our back now, is sticking a knife in it, just like he did when he and his pal, Ken Hall did in 2007 when he pushed the UPS split from the CSPF through and in 2008-2009 when he gave blessings to YRC's MOU pay givebacks.
We need his father, James R. to come back from wherever he is to bang HIS FIST into Junior's face.....the only thing Junior has in common with his father is the last name. Way too many idiots in the Teamster membership just can't understand that.
The Teamsters of today are just a faint shadow of what it was under James R. Hoffa.
More like forward and bent over!!!!
I have just been banned from the "XPO union thread". I guess censorship is alive and well on Truckingboards .
Certain moderators such as "upnorth" and some others on that thread apparently do not like any comments that are not directly in line with their opposition to any union at XPO, especially Teamsters. No big loss, I guess. I just don't like censorship.
I didn't connect in a good way with many there anyhow. A few have open minds, but most are bitter and narrow minded.
I thought, since we are (or were) truck drivers, we could have some common ground and agree or disagree in a civil and intelligent manner.
It seems that my assumption was wrong - so the senseless hate goes on.
I want to thank the few (very few) on that thread that were able to exchange views without "embellishing" or twisting stories.
I believe in sticking to the facts and back up those facts if need be.. Those at the "XPO union" thread apparently can't handle facts.
Even the thread's title "XPO union thread" is a joke. There is no such thing.
So, in closing, let me direct two things to a poster "eBITDa" for posting embellished comments about his father and false accusations about me, and moderator "upnorth" for allowing that and now imposing censorship on me because he doesn't agree with my views.
Just remember, the long time xpo guys are the same ones that ran cf out.
I remember it full well. CF fully funded CCX. The only reason CCX (now XPO) even exists is Teamster members' money, dedication and sweat that made CF what it once was. Then CF stabbed those same employees employees in the back.
Those same type of guys work at every union shop anymore, lack of contract enforcement is pathetic, and it's one of the biggest reasons things are the way they are.
I'm left wondering why you still think there were more yes votes on paper than no votes. Hoffa corruption knows no bounds.
Mb the vote should have been a yay or nay vote down at the hall. Let everyone that wants a pay cut explain why in front of everybody else.
YRCW has WON and broke the union rules and will , No union pride anymore ,it's every man for himself !!
Real democracy in action at the union hall? With no pressure from the union bosses to vote the way THEY want?
Nobody on the podium shouting down those that voice an opposition to the Teamster position?
A meeting where everyone feels free to speak without fear of retribution by the union bosses?
A meeting where nobody has been intimidated and is free to speak?
Never happen. They won't even vote unanimously on paper. Only less than 83% did in the last general election.
Teamster members have lost their balls.
This thread should have been "YRCW cancer of technology industry ".
