Holland | YRC's Holland Regional Unit Posts Weak Operating Performance In 2014

Wonder how many injuries were related to 208 trailers with the king pins falling off. Or fifth wheels so old and worn out they occasionally drop a trailer. Or forklifts well beyond their useful life with poor brakes, or how about forklifts that catch on fire. Maybe another reason the workers comp has skyrocketed is due to the poor reputation of YRC forcing the company to hire just about anybody with a pulse. Do you think maybe you hired a few problem children by not being more selective!

Our light duty list is the largest it has ever been. One of them was "hurt" within days of completing probation, another about 2 months after hire. Two drivers were fired for having 3 accidents in 8 months, both got their jobs back and one of them had an accident within 2 weeks of returning. Just need a pulse and a face for the ID card.

The YRCF barn in Orange, Ca witnessed a total of 24 accidents last year. 92 employees. Quite an accomplishment! "Best" in the district, I believe.
Of course, the pre-shift, monotonous, "safety" garbage, is preached/brainwashed daily. Talk about beating a dead horse!

How can management not expect an increase in accident and cargo claims when you allow upwards of 700 mile dispatches 6 nights a week on a regular basis, driving JUNK. Log 12-13 hours driving in to an 11 hour log? Greedy drivers fall right into the plan. Lets not forget management turning a blind eye to the diesel doctor for a year and a half. The blame for this report sits square on the shoulders of Mr. Ware and his team of college boys who pretend to know how to run a freight company. The writing is on the wall. Scotty give yourself a head start and start cleaning out your desk and please take Andy with you.

i am sure some of you guy's know travis the safety %^?# out of the st louis terminal? thinks he know's it all! sounds like he is doing a hell of a job keeping the holland people safe. he might want to start packing his bags to.

Not only is it foolish for them to hire these rookies, but it's more foolish when after they hire them, they don't give them much (if any) safe driving training. Sounds like they need to hire some good trainers for the safety department versus those fools who just travel around to their convenience, harassing people over stupid :crap:, and put in a three day work week. Obviously, safety has become a low priority.

Did they fire him again?

Line haul can log 70 hrs. per week. 14 hours per day x 5 days = 70 hours.

City CAN go over 60 if the extra hours (anything over 60) is on the dock and not driving.
