Yellow | Yrcw seeks economic relief from teamsters!

I'm seeing a lot of GOOD view-points in this thread Pro and Con...Interesting that IBT agreed so quickly to tentative offer...If JR thought give backs were too much,he would have a riot on his hands...I could be wrong, but It looks like concessions are going to be from FUTURE INCREASES in parts of THIS current 5 year deal in conjuction with all future consolidations planned by YRC WORLDWIDE....$Bill could also help by taking a cut IN GOOD FAITH to help us all survive!!!...I'm also hearing the vote is going back to Local leadership for vote Dec.3rd....Stay strong Brotherhood, this may not be as bad as we thought...Enjoy the rest of your holiday....Hope this damm economy turns in OUR FAVOR...

Well Obama didn't get this country into the mess it is in.......remember read my lips senior and his no taxes?.. If you know anything about what Obama is saying about raising taxes it is not actually raising them it is letting the tax loophole for the rich expire which bush Dubya gave them....Let me ask you this.......has trickle down worked?....no they give us scraps off their plates even when times are good for example the 80's and 90's...the rich get richer and the poor pay the bill. What Obama wants to do is level the playing field so that rich oil companies which made record profits are still not getting government handouts which they got and are still getting under this president. Obama wants to end the corporate loopholes that lets a company move all their assets over seas and still get a huge huge tax break to do so......I know it was clinton that nailed that coffin on us so it is not republican or democrat right now it is class warfare and has been for 20 yrs. And as far as social programs I will take social programs over 10 billion a month in a war that no one wants.......if we had taken just a fraction of the the money that has been wasted(GAO) says their have been in Iraq we could have trained people to get better jobs through schools and trade.....whoops very few of thoses jobs left now.....they have opened up the borders to anyone and everyone forcing down wages and have done it for years and if YRCW fails it will be another feather in corporate america's hat. ..OK sorry had to rant a lil I do apologize .....:chairshot:
Well if you want my opinion which you probably don't Obama's Spread the wealth plan will bury this country if he procedes with it. The only thing to truly make this country prosperous is a fair tax system but this really isnt the debate here. I will never take social programs/ideals over individualism, and true freedom.

The reason

I think they agree so quickly was that the teamsters lawyers got in there and looked and realized that YRCW was not blowing smoke about the financials situation.....however they may have been doing something longterm meaning they are trying to head it off before it does become a problem ....the money I mean. The experts have all said it is going to be a long time before it gets better so maybe for once in their lives they are being proactive...just a thought:1036316054:

spread the wealth

NO your opinion is important I am no better than you guy.....:1036316054: My point was if we all work for low wages and the rich don't have to pay their share...which I think we are in debt for 1 trillion and counting ...who is going to buy the houses the cars the gadgets we all love?:TR10driving03:

2008: (77 years old)

Buffett became the richest man in the world, worth $62 billion according to Forbes and $58 billion according to Yahoo. Bill Gates had been number 1 on the Forbes list for 15 consecutive years.

Warren Buffett - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Buffett stated that he only paid 19% of his income for 2006 ($48.1 million) in total federal taxes, while his employees paid 33% of theirs, despite making much less money.

exactly

:1036316054:Thanks that was my point exactly. Could you imagine if he had to pay 33 % of his money...which he never will but multiply that by the number of millionares and billionares...

One thing you should consider...There is no more socialist ideal than a labor union.

But

that is like comparing apples to oranges.....all we want as union people as well as non union is a piece of the pie that makes the rich richer........if not for the union no 40 hour week, no o/t no paid holidays...I am sure back then there we're guys saying we don't need unions our mines are safe...we don't need unions we can work 7 days a week 18 hours a day ....the main reason management hates union is that we can afford to live in their neighborhoods and send our kids to their kids schools.....anyway I know this is not the proper thread for this so if the moderater would like to move this then that is fine I apologize...:1036316054:

Is the concessions going to start from the top ceo's and work its way down or is it as usual going to come from blue collar workers. I hope it works out for everyone but as for me i am not a fan of give backs it only prolongs the agony.I gave back on 2 jobs that are no longer in bussiness. Keeping my fingers crossed for you guys and girls.

Your teamster brother

Everything being discussed by all of us here has to do with this thread, in my opinion. No matter if its just a place to vent and discuss about why this is all happening to YRC and the IBT. Everybody's opinions are needed so that everybody can see everything, from every different angle, to make their own decision about what to do. I heard several things that I wouldn't have ever thought of on my own already.

Wow! ! The guys saying vote no have some good points lets shut the company down and get in the unemployment line .Lets think about this for a second .How long did the last [major] economic down turn last 10 years .Well! who needs to eat anyway or have a warm place to sleep . YRC has to compete in these hard economic times or fail .Thats it ,we as teamsters hold all the cards here YES or NO.This has to be a educated choice not a angry one .

Breaker Breaker, anybody got an extra shower ticket. Just Practicing, hope I don't have to but I will drive a big RED large car.

So where supposed to punish success, 48 million in taxes is a butt load of money.

no not punish

anyone for sucess..........but 48 million on 64 billion is bullcrap ......1/3 is what we workers lose every year.......he wastes more on toilet paper than we make in a year.:1036316054:

i can't wait for yrc to close up....then i can go get my dream job with jb hunt

Well Obama didn't get this country into the mess it is in:

Well, yes and no. Franklin Raines (an Obama advisor) is one of the central players that caused the Mortagage meltdown. And Not Drilling for more oil caused wars and the price of oil to skyrocket, which collapsed the economy. (Blocked by Eviromentalists/ Dems; the Repub House of Reps at the time voted to drill) Today's markets are falling/floundering because they really can't predict whether Obama will follow thru with his agenda to basically Nationalize everything. (further Marxism; we've been a Marxist Nation since the Banking Act of 1933 and Social Security of 1935). Business will not spend under a raising of Capital Gains. Our jobs are done if he really Does Raise Taxes......If you doubt what I'm saying-- go to the Interstate Ramps and ask a homeless guy to hire you. Let me know how you make out!

Exactly, The thing is we are actually paying over 50% in taxes now when you consider Personal Property, State and Local Taxes on purchases, Gasoline Taxes, SS Taxes, Payroll Taxes. The Roman Empire fell due to over taxation at 50%. Yet a man runs for president and campainged on RAISING taxes, while the country is falling apart and gets elected. Where in this mess due to Greed, Including Me, I used to be that way, We buy homes we cant afford, Which I sold mine!, Its going to be a hard lesson for all of us to swallow.

hey jimmy g...why is oil going for $50 abarrel now and two months ago it was $140?
did we start drilling for more oil somewhere?whats the reason genius?
Here are the facts...you and i are not important to anyone in this country with money or power. You can only GUESS about the cause of any of these problems!!
So just keep drinkin' your beer, watchin' your nascar, shootin' your guns!!
