These straps were originally used to strap the forklift to the trailer. They were changed to the chains when the straps started to fray.![]()
Can anyone tell me what these straps with the funky triangle end on them are for or how they are supposed to be used.
we have the drop deck trailer and there are no hooks built into the trailer to hook them to
Hooking the blank end into a ratchet and then hooking a regular ratchet strap with a hook to the triangle or looping it through itself seems like a kludge to me.

"IF YOU CAN'T RUN WITH THE BIG DOGS STAY ON THE PORCH"
Sounds good but what did they hook to on the lift.
And ours don't appear to have ever been used. Except to tie down the odd roll of carpet that's a liftgate delivery![]()
They had wrapped around the cage of the lift and then was ratcheted to the trailer.

Beats me, what is on the other end of that strap? Have you asked your TM that question yet? That is where I would start.
P.S. What is a kludge?
Um no. Believe me when I tell you that you would not ask the TM anything related to equipment.
That sounds too harsh but she really doesn't know stuff like that
Nothing on the other end of the strap and the strap is a little large for the ratchets but it will squeeze through.
I think Big daddy had a good answer. Thanks guys.
BTW a Kludge is another way of saying jury rigged.
When they got the flatbed in Miami, the straps wrapped around the mast like Boilerpeddle has it on the trailer. They were then put in an X figure along side the lift and they would use the ratchets to tie them to the trailer. They had bigger ratchets then the one for cubes. Them must have been procurred for something else.![]()

If your straping down something other than a Cube, you use this connecting strap between the hook/strap on one side to the hook/strap on the other.
I am glad to hear you are using chains for that job now. I do not like the idea of using straps to tie down forklifts or anything else that is that heavy and is on wheels. Straps are fine for lumber, properly loaded pipe and relo-cubes but not for trucks or forklifts.
