    now, that's a good point..

That's some good info., I've never read the policy..

And because something comes up in that employee's life, like the illness of a child or yourself, you can be punished. This is the only place I've ever worked at that had this kind of policy.
Fed Ex Freight has a very similar policy. If you show up to work everyday and have an occasional issue you have nothing to worry about. How many people complain though when someone calls in all the time and you have to work harder. The only way to weed those people out is to have a solid policy in place.

we were told that if you bring in a Dr. note that's great. It lets them know you are not lying. However, if you didn't call in 3 hours before your shift, or they are full up on people off for the day you will still get a point regardless of the Dr. note or reason.

If they send you home no point. If you choose to leave early its a full event.

If someone calls in all the time just for the heck of it, that's one thing. If he's got a valid reason to be out, that's another. My attendance points aren't an "issue" as you put it, but I have a hell of a problem with a doctor's excuse not being excused. I'm sorry, does Con-way know more whether or not I should be at work than my health care provider? Doctor's excuses (and they should be called and checked up on yes) should be an excused "attendance event" as we like to put it. Period.

It should be excused with a doctor visit. All you need is to be prescribed medication and it falls under FMLA and no point.

If the vacation board is full, we still are penalized at our place. Doctors note, drugs no matter.
