That don't surprise me I worked on the roads down here for years as a machine operator & people just don't give a shyte about signs, I was even knocked to the ground once when I was holding a stop & go board, the sheila driving said Ohh sorry I didn't see it, bloody hell it was bright red with big letters saying stop & about 4 feet in diameter, bloody strange people out there on the roads.

I would almost give odds it was a woman texting/talking on a cell phone not looking or caring about the world around her. Probably talking to another woman about a sale or other pressing matters. The highways were much safer before texting. Ray there have been highway construction people killed in this state by speeding and/or inattentive drivers. One young man working on the road shoulder lost his life when a woman ignored merge signs for a mile then cut in front of a truck that was unable to stop. I am sure she didn't think the merge signs applied to her. She was too important to wait in line like everybody else. The boy was a teenager & was the nephew of the contractor that had the road contract. This wasn't the first accident on this construction job due to idiot drivers. the contractor loaded up his crew & equipment & left the state. I think the bonding company got another contractor to finish the job.

    Can you say "Lawsuit"?

Can you imagine a loaded truck? With a loaded driver at the wheel? "No more road medication for me"!

Like men don't text on their phones.

When I got knocked over on site I badly busted my left wrist & was of work for 6 months, when I got back to work I told the boss never again will I assist with signs I just sat in my 20 ton digger if anyone wanted to argue with the digger they could feel free to try, when ever working on roads never have your back to on coming traffic.
