This is a point I've been making throughout this whole time. Am I talking to thin air here? This thread is now a waste of my time. Y'all can think what you want to think. I'm done here.

You state "No resources=no infrastructure". They have resources in Africa. The ground doesn't wear out and they always have healthy children to work the ground. They don't need infrastructure, like we have it anyway. Each village has a well for water. No need for electric or sewer or gas. Nobody has a motor vehicle so there's no need for fuel or roads.

Hey, you brought Africa into it. If anyone knows a waste of time, it's you, right?

I guess I will wade back in since I probably started some of the discontent on this subject. I still contend that the American people share some of the blame for the economic conditions & lack of jobs/low paying jobs in this country. The American people gave away their birthright when they stopped buying American made products & chose cheaper & often inferior quality foreign made products. The signing of NAFTA & later FASTRAC helped take away good paying manufacturing jobs. As a side note the only presidential candidates that were vocal & opposed to both of these were Ross Perot & Pat Buchanan. Republicans & Democrats both supported NAFTA. Bill Clinton signed it into law. That should neutralize claims as to which part is to blame.
I will use WalMart as an example but it is not the only retailer responsible for China becoming an economic super power & ultimately being the source for loans to the US. Several years ago WalMart had the "Bring it home to the USA" slogan & advertisement. If the american people would have bought quality products made in the USA instead of slightly cheaper foreign made items WalMart would still sell USA made products. WalMart is in business to make a profit & will stock what sells best. That is what a business does whether it is the local mom & pop store or a global retailer. If WalMart stocked only American made products & Target stocked cheaper foreign made items & customers bought the cheaper & lower quality foreign products from Target then WalMart would lose market share & ultimately not be profitable.
The rules & playing field have changed from not so many years ago. We are a global economy & have to compete with other countries.
My brother worked for a manufacturing company that sold products world wide & he spent time in China & other countries. One thing stood out while talking to people from outside the US. Those people still considered American made products superior to what they manufactured & couldn't understand why American people would not buy American.

I agree with what you say DCM-doc but at the end it all comes down to the mighty dollar & we all get brain washed by the Corporates into what to buy & when. I guess our mate/cobber Airbrakes has had enough of debating, never mind it does us all good to vent our spleens now & then, my idea is that the cake is big enough for all if we just nibble away at it but of course there is always those that will take huge bites & not give a stuff about others, that,s why I said earlier that I am farting against thunder, but at least I am farting.

Best wishes to all my mates/cobbers on the TB. Kiwiray down under.
