I had a 1966 GMC 3/4 ton pickup with a V-6 305 cid in it. A friend of mine bought a 1992 Dodge pickup and started getting on my nerves about how much better his Dodge was than my old 1966 GMC. I challenged him to put a chain on his back bumper and the other end of it on mine and see who drug who....

    He didn't take the challenge.

    I currently have a 2011 GMC 4x4 1/2 ton.
I know it is basically a Chevy with GM emblems.
I have been loyal to the Dodge brand with my last few pickups starting with my first in 1973.

However when I showed up at my local Dodge dealer last year with my old 1998 Dodge.
The salesman could not crunch the numbers to get me into another Dodge.

I was very disappointed but decided to stop by a local GM dealer to see what they could do for me.
Hence I am now the proud owner of my first GMC pickup.

As much as I really wanted to stick with Dodge, after 17 months I am very happy with my GMC.

Dodge offered me zero interest for 60 months, and could not come down on their sticker price.
GMC gave me 72 months at zero interest, which kept my payments very comfortable.
They also threw in a bed liner, and dropped the sticker price a bit.
So you see this is why I am now a GMC guy.

I had always been a Chevy guy. Cars and pickups both. In fact my very first car was a 1962 Chevy Impala. My last Chevy pickup was a 1976 One Ton Dually, 454 auto. In the late 1990's when there was all that fuss about the side mounted fuel tanks blowing up in collisions I got a coupon from General Motors giving me $1,500 "trade in" for a brand new Chevy pick up.

    A $30,000 Chevy pick up.

    What a "great" deal.

I passed, put another 100,000 miles on my old dually then sold it for $2,800 in 2001 with over 300,000 miles on the odometer.

That was after I bought a spankin' new Dodge 3500 Dually with a 24 valve ISB Cummins and a 6 speed manual transmission. Never looked back. The thing gets 18 to 20 mpg (as long as I keep it at 60 or under), and with the camper and the 32 foot enclosed race trailer, car, spares and extra fuel is grossed out at 21,500lbs.

    Power to spare.

Whoa..kinda spooky. My first truck was a 71 Chevy C10 longbed that was that pea soup green (and rust). Then I had burgundy 89 Chevy 2500. And now I have a green 03 GMC K2500HD. I think you have great taste in trucks, Flounder.
