O we get it.Union in Wal Mart would mean better pay and some bennies for the employees which would be good for them. The ones that was still employed that is.I think if that happened prices would increase and low income and retired people would find other places to shop.
I heard a union was voted in at a Wal Mart I think in Canada. It was closed soon after.

It had to, there was no substance, only vapor. The only way we are going to maintain our power is to regain our basic means of production. What is done, laborwise, at Walmart is being duplicated throughout America. It is just that they are the largest and most efficient in their practices.
    [B]Very good point.

Thank you Larry for the great post, I put it up on my site for all the world to see, I like sarcasm and this really hit's the nail on the head. The conspirators against the American, the entire worlds, working class would be happy if we all had to work 12 hours a day and ate dirt sandwiches to stave off hunger pains like they do in Haiti, you know, the place that now makes our Wrangler jeans and Disney clothing.

Another unfortunate story recently posted on my site is "Disposable worker dies and 13 year old injured working on Value Palace hotel in IN.", it's about how construction companies underbid good union and non-union contractors and use labor brokers to get undocumented workers to do the job as a slave force, without tax payments, safety standards, workman's compensation, overtime pay, breaks and absolutely no voice on the job.

This particular story refers to a 31 year old undocumented worker who brought his 13 year old to work, and while they were working unsafely, they fell off a forklift. The father died and the son was in critical condition.

That's your America with a weak labor movement. Only through a respect for all workers can we finally unite again and take our country back.

Absolutely brother, thanks for the welcome.

I think this is a great site because you can get a real feel for how all of our working brothers and sisters are thinking out there, myself and my buddy Richie from the original Union Review always stress that the labor movement in the US is about all workers union and nonunion, and in every field, meeting doctors and speaking to 'discovery" lawyers who wish they could become union, is the stuff that makes you realize that we are all having a tough time making ends meet.

EDIT: Added it to mine, I'll get in touch with Richie and see if he can add it to UR

As long as it is a blog, and not a competing message board, we allow your link. Hope you understand our position. You may want to also consider posting in the union only forum, which is open to union members only. This board is open to all and you can expect some serious rebuttal.

I think it is an excellent debate...I grew up in the shadow of a GM plant in Van Nuys, Ca. in the 60s and 70s, and just about every 4th house in the neighborhood was owned by a GM employee...hell, half my classmates went to work for them after high school because their parents got them on...of course, they were all left unemployed when it closed in the 80s..
And I have a sister who works for Wal-mart, as a department manager, 13 years now, and their pay, benefits, 401k, and holidays suck...I can't even attest to how they treat their part-time employees...I told both my sons to apply there to be cart pushers part time while they are in school, but that's about all it's good for...

I think that there maybe just as much, if not more, to learn here in this section. The only section I would not go into is the nonunion one, I respect the rules and I respect the workers wishes.

@Boxboss, yeah I have a friend who had gone trough all the motions in one of the major toy stores here in New York, from stocker, to dept. head to assistant manager, now he manages a store, and just as recently as last year, even though he is getting great sales and reviews, they got him scared as he had to train another fella from PA. how to do his job for $40,000 less.

I was trying to get him into a construction apprenticeship, just in case. Thank goodness the guy wound up quitting.

He's at the real top of the ladder as most of the workers have nothing to work for so they have a huge turn around of low paid and in most stores I have shopped at, some darn obnoxious employees.

It appears to have sailed right over their heads. I have been thanked many, many times for fighting the good fight. Once we are gone Larry then the crying will really begin.
