Yes you might have to join up to get the OT issue worked out as of now you all in the South are second class citizens in the Con-Way world. How ever you need to educate your self on the rest of this post.
Why would the company layoff workers and cut hours? Will going union stop them from servicing their customers ? I think not. Please tell us which company layoff people when they go union ? More hog wash from your managers I believe
Your union dues money is not used for any political campaigns it goes to pay the union expenses. Their is a voluntary D.R.I.V.E. fund that is the political action arm of the union. I think you should again educate yourself and find out the truth before you stick your foot farther into your mouth.

Im not 100 % against the union but in my opinion its more bad than good. I wouldn't want to be forced to pay dues money and have it given to liberal causes like the re-election of Obama in 2012.

when you pay your union dues they got your money , they can do whatever they want with it then. They can shift money from one thing to another. Here is an article from the washington times. It states this............ That will be followed by a “massive campaign” among 13 million union voters in August to promote Mr. Obama and specifically highlight his support for the labor law reform bill known as “card check.” It is estimated that organized labor will spend upward of $300 million in this year’s presidential and congressional elections - much of it promoting the card-check bill and tying it to its Democratic supporters.

$300 millions dollars the the union spent on the Obama election...... here is the full article

Here is another one........... Union treasuries - filled by dues paid by union members - not only fund programs benefiting union members and their families. The money they collect also pays six-figure compensation packages for labor leaders and provides millions of dollars for Democratic causes and candidates.

I could do this all day long. - - I remember back in 2008, Yellow /Roadway trucks with OBAMA signs in the rear window of the cab.

If your local does hold money for political use, you can call them and tell them that you only want to pay your dues. They will subtract it out. Years ago a buddy told me about that trick. When you hire in. They have all the stuff in front of you to sign and you don't realize until later that you have signed up for something you did not want.

    Seek the truth kids !!!
Do not believe all that is written except in the "Good Book"
Many post here with an anti union tone but their post are FALSE and have no idea other than what they heard from a buddy, or a company meeting.
As far a stickers in company truck windows this is against company policy and would be removed when going thru the shop.
Your local does not use dues money to support anything political ! This again is a FALSE statement by an uneducated person

The dues themselves may not be used in that way. But they are allowed to collect money for political gain. And they may use that any way they like. You need to stop preaching and be objective. No one doubts that they do collect contributions for political campaigns and lobbying. They would be stupid if they didn't.

I could be wrong, but I believe that was referring to personal vehicles.

You need to educate yourself on subjects you have no idea about.

Educate myself. I have learned that the ones that think they know it all and call everyone else ignorant are usually the most foolish. It's just fine being for something. But to be blindly for it, without the ability to see both the good and bad of it. Well that is just dumb. I am not gonna all the sudden be pooping rainbows because we go union. There are two sides to all things. All men are sinners. I don't trust you, them or anyone else to be looking out for me. The union has a long history of crooks. Just the way it is. And your name says it all.
