    That is true if they keep the same management . They will have to hire smarter and more efficient managers like ABF, UPS and hopefully Yellow/ Roadway and Holland . Management is what damn near broke YRC not the drivers union and that is public knowledge . If ya see Bill Zollars walking through the parking lot ya better lock the door .

    This sounds like a bumper sticker that management would hand out to encourage the drivers to stand strong against the evil Unions. Maybe you could put up some reasons why you believe this.

    Your people already make a good wage, with benefits. The Union is not going to raise your wages so much the company will go broke. They might have to pay a bit more in for a pension plan for the drivers, but the drivers work hard and make the company money, maybe they deserve a little something after 30 years.

    New drivers like working with out a Union because they can get around seniority rules and work out their own special deals with management. When a senior driver tries to protect his run or his job, it is real easy to criticize him as being a screw up or for not working as hard as you do. The Union works to protect the man's job and you might believe that hurts the company.

    The Union puts the drivers interest ahead of the companies, and that might hurt your company. But I think your company is strong enough to put a little more investment in the drivers. If going Union causes them to go bankrupt in 5 years, they have other problems.

    im a driver at conway. So in order to get OT after 8 hours in the southern states we have to go Union? So.......we go union and then right away people get laid off and hours are cut back even more, thats what happens every time when company's go Union. Im not 100 % against the union but in my opinion its more bad than good. I wouldn't want to be forced to pay dues money and have it given to liberal causes like the re-election of Obama in 2012.

    How do you figure there will be layoffs?????,.............

    As to campaign funding unless you voluntarily elect to contribute to the Teamsters Drive political action fund you wont be,...It is ILLEGAL for Union dues to be used for campaign spending,...

    We do 2 times the work with 1/2 the employees I think they would have to hire if you did get the layoff you will have call back rights . As it stands now they call it economically terminate you that to me is not a good argument for the non union guys.

    That's better;

    If you go Union and they lay people off, and cut back hours, how are they moving the freight? Is the freight volume going to drop or are the people who are left going to work that much harder to make up for you being gone? This makes no sense. Especially in a company like yours that already cuts its labor to the bare minimum, having drivers run hard and then work dock when they get to the hub.

    What may happen is they hire more people to avoid having to pay overtime. I understand that there are drivers who like to work 14 hours a day, skip lunch and take no breaks. They would not be happy with a Union. The Union is going to fight for people to do a fair days work and still have time for a home life.

    The Union is not going to brainwash you into voting for Democrats, you are free to decide whom you want to vote for. I would bet you already work with some people who support liberal causes since half the country seems to vote for them every election.

    Driver there is more to it than you just wanting OT goin union. You get to have a voice in your work rules in your work place. Your safety, representation during disciplinary actions, right to a grievance machinery to name a few.
    My question to you is....."if the union is so bad then why does management work so hard on keeping it out????
