That is a hard pill to swallow. She will some day come to understand. When you are young it is easy to ask where were you. But as she gets older and it becomes clear that you had to work so she could have a better chance at life. And just maybe if she is able to give her children a better life because of her education then she will understand. It was a hard choice for every father to make but it had to be made. Good Luck and remember as long as you have tomorrow you can always make it better. YOUR BROTHER ALWAYS!

I like all dogs I meet, and some people too.
Indeed. I could have retired at a limestone quarry in 2009 withe 30 years.
Personally, I had older men telling me that I was crazy for leaving that job. They warned me and I didn't listen. Today I tell younger men that there is a balance between work and family and trucking will tear that apart. But they don't listen any better to me today than I listened back then. That little house that cost $1200 in 1975 looks pretty good to me today.
How many wanted to go to college? How many got into trucking because they started a family? YOUR BROTHER ALWAYS!
I went to Tech School,....Got sick of working on the road in my chosen career and someone told me about a delivery driver position with a liquor distributor that would let me live at home instead of motels so I applied and got my first driving job,........
Driving wasn't something I was intending on staying in, It was just a way to be home.
I make a good living but if I had to do it again I would have went to dental school,.............
