Overturned produce truck clogs I-85 weigh station, causing backups

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A tractor-trailer has overturned at the Interstate 85 northbound weigh station near the Mecklenburg, Gaston County line around 4 a.m. Wednesday.
The truck is causing major backups on I-85 for the Wednesday morning commute. The backup is estimated to be about 6 miles.
Medic was on the scene but said the driver was not injured and was able to get out of the truck safely.

Police said the driver was entering the weigh station from I-85 but was going too fast for the roadway and flipped his truck.
Officials said the truck was a refrigerated truck carrying produce and would likely have to be emptied before crews can remove it.

The weigh station will remain closed until they can clean up the accident.
Police said no lanes of I-85 are affected.
