The other one that broke in half in the same city last week had 600lb drums on it.This one who knows,the story tells all available info.

This usually happens after the length of trailers are increased.
I remember when trailers went from 40' to 45,then to 48,next came 53'

From 40 to 45 it was not that drastic,but some of the first 48's & 53's did break in the center,when the axels were on the tail.
They were being over loaded when the trailers go bouncing down the road,they are prone to break.

I worked for a cardboard recycler for a while back when 53s were a new thing and I remember the company was loading a brand new 53 with backer board rolls and after about the 4th roll in as the lift brought in another roll the trailer broke right in half right at the dock.

The axles are in the 40' range, according to the picture. I wonder when they loaded it, the wheels were set to the rear??

Each state has their rate restrictions,I know as the trailer were being built longer.
In New York State,the axels have to be on the tail to carry the extra weight.
The longer the trailer the more they flex when they go bouncing down the highways.
