"The roads were dry at that time, and there was no precipitation," Stephenson said.

30+ accidents this morning in western pa. I79, I80, I376, and other parts of I70 in Washington closed for a time due to black ice and wrecks, but yet, the roads where dry? It's been snowing around here all day, not heavy but enough to slick roads and bridges. Wonder if the driver admitted to being distracted(texting, cell phone, etc) and that is why charges have already been filed.

Yes the cold weather is upon us sorry to say double r.
You all be careful, and don't turn up on any crash posts on this here TB forum.

Just found an update, the authorities are faulting the trucker, charged with 2 counts of vehicular homicide.

Investigators said they donít believe the snow and wet weather played a role in the crash.
    Some "investigators" ain't worth spit.

It's bloody DANGEROUS enough through that section (I-79 onto I-70 to I-376 and the opposite) in CLEAR, DRY weather what with the ROAD CONSTRUCTION and that's WITHOUT the usual, predictable times of excessive traffic or traffic rush hours!!
I don't get up there much (usually on NB I-79), but I'm very familiar with the area and Wintry times are no exception as I generally SLOW DOWN and watch many vehicles pass by and hope I don't see them wrecked up.

Guardrails were installed Wednesday night along the eb and wb berms at the accident site. There were none when the crash occured.

In my mind the elephant in the room is how many of these Eastern European imports have been involved in high profile accidents resulting in multiple deaths. Another case in point is the accident in the construction zone in Nebraska. I firmly believe that these people and all of those companies in the northern suburbs of Chicago that employ them, are seriously in need of being investigated.
