Vote in French presidential election should be a warning for America

France currently has a government that absorbs more than 50 percent of its economy. They have a cradle-to-grave employment system, where once you have a job it is virtually impossible to lose it no matter your level of performance. The retirement system for many union and government employees allows a person to retire at age 55 at close to full pay. For a while they had in place a 35-hour work-week law, which is still followed by many businesses and government entities.

With these types of policies, it would seem difficult to imagine what a socialist government would change. But there is still room for movement to the left, according to the folks who are running.

Should be a warning for anyone wanting to cut back on Social Security and Medicare and food stamps.
But go ahead and try it & see how it works

Didn't obama cut funding to Medicare or social security through their payroll tax cut?

Medicare stayed the same, but social security went from 6.2% to 4.2%.

I don't understand what you are saying here. The article points out the error in big government deciding who gets what and how much. You say we should continue our own policies to redistribute wealth?

Yes, he did cut $500,000,000,000 from Medicare to fund his Obama-Care..and cut 6% off the payroll tax (social security money) in the name of creating jobs. Then they accuse the Repubs of throwing the seniors off a cliff. He is the sneakiest liar president ever

What you don't know is every dollar short for Social Security funds gets put in from the general fund.
So don't worry the Seniors will be fine
