If you are at a losing terminal and they decide to hard layoff the drivers that are lost, will that lay off come from the master roster or the active roster? I have been told the company might take the position that the layed off drivers did not have work to begin with, so they have nothing to follow. I am asking because CVE just recalled 35 drivers effective 04/12. You can not have VELOCITY without the road's participation. Even UPS understands this, that is why they have feeder drivers. Am wrong here or does it seem they are trying to violate seniorty?

Say your terminal is -10 and only 5 go somewhere....they COULD...not shall...lay off the bottom 5 that did not go any where.....if you want to go....GO...but do not let the thought of being laid get to you if you stay.

I was told the same BS back in 1990....I would not work if I stayed....I have to much of a life and a family here to pull them all up and chase a sterringwheel!

Oh by the way....I was laid off 2 weeks and started to get calls for work, then after the COO had been in place for 30 dayes....they started hiring new drivers off the street....those that went elswhere were stuck there for 7 long years!!....KK

When I left stp for ind we were told by local 120 that on the day of the change if 16 people didn't transfer, the number that did subtracted from 16 is how many were to be laid off, immediately. If they weren't greivances would be filed because that meant the company fudged the numbers.

Add to that the fact that some road drivers at CVE took "full layoff", some bumped into local cartage dock/yard, and some took "partial layoff" in road only, road/city only, or all classifications! How will they get to bid? Will the road drivers who bumped into local cartage classifications still get to bid on the change as road drivers? Minus 22 road drivers on the change. CVE still has over 70 laid off! Sounds like some serious questions for the committees!

Heard that in LCP if you do not take the move you are considered to have resigned. Meaning, you are not laid off for 5 years with call back rights. The people that are laid off right now will be done and/or they will be called back eventually to either take the move, or resign.

You will have 5 years from your last day worked, to be recalled, before anyone else can be hired in your classification. What they might be trying to tell LCP workers is that you better move because they will never recall or hire at LCP again.

I saw this the other day and I never had an opportunity to comment until now. I apologize for finding humor in a serious forum. But if I were the one making this decision, I know that the thought of being laid would definitely factor into staying or not.

WE moved in 2003 because YRC told us we would go into layoff if not. We moved , those under me did not. They still work there and I moved to h*LL. It was very had on our kids, We really miss our family, best friends and neighbors. Home is not here but there. When I first heard of the change was so hopeful to go back .. but nope not a gainer.

I really feel bad for your situation, but KK accidentally left out the word off. I catch myself doing this all the time. Anyway, read his statement carefully.

That may have been intentional Larry, if you have grown to hate your wife and she you. Being home on layoff, rather than babysitting a phone in another city, I could imagine might be traumatic for some guys. I don't have that problem, mine is always at work when I'm home.
