    The Cost Of Failure

I am sorry to say this but, It costs a lot more to run the Florida freight from Atlanta than it did from Valdosta. Valdosta drivers turned 80% of there runs into Florida and had little delay time while making these runs. Now Atlanta runs laydowns and the company put up to many bids to the Florida destinations and started them bids at the wrong time of day, so now our drivers sit on the clock in Florida for 20 to 30 hours at times causing a tractor, and driver shortage in Atlanta. This added delay time expence is killing any chance of profit from the C.O.O. What we have now is the expence of the terminal in Valdosta, plus operating expences due to poor mangement, and the local union letting the company due what ever it wants, this all adds up to failure. I hear we are working our entire road board at 402, I hope we can say this in November.

KK keeps talking about all the people at 402 that have been recalled (most had less than 5 years seniority) What about the 70 from Valdosta that were placed on lay off and some had over 25 years seniority? You're not comparing apples to apples. So quit trying to sugar coat how great things are. Changes are designed to eliminate people with higher seniority. The company knows this and uses it to reduce our more senior workers. I think it's great you support the people in your local, but you don't represent those of us that have been left behind. And you have no right taking shots at us!

From a run and expense standpoint it doesnt make sense to close valdosta.why is it that the company doesnt get the scheduling down.i saw this problem at 511/irving tx.i thought they were starting the springfield mo runs too early.our drivers were beating their return freight by too many hours early.consequently layover pay was paid.i dont know if the sleeper runs that replaced the springfield runs.if they are fairing any better

What about the 70+ from Valdosta that all had seniority over the people you're so happy for at 402? How does that "fuzzy math" equate?

I started in Stroudsburg then moved to Kernersville.while in kernersville they came back with the 2nd big COO.
B/A showed up for a Q&A . When i asked a question that would concern myself i was told."I GOT NO TIME FOR THAT I HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT MY GUYS NOW ."

Atlanta gained the work of 49 drivers in the COO....AND still, was able to recall all 52 drivers that have been laid off for over 3.5 years after the COO was implemented.....KK
    Typical non response.

Of course he does. As a mod he can take shots at whomever he pleases. Just don't stand up for yourself and push back. That will get you banned. I'm sure I will get a little "layoff" for this response.

I have no problem with a B.A. doing their best to represent "their people"........I'm just tired of hearing how wonderful things are for "all the poor people" that have been called back to work. I saw the 402 seniority list before the change. Most of their lay off had less than 5 years seniority. Now Valdosta has people with 25 years on lay off, and we're supposed to be happy for people doing the jobs we used to do?

PPaddy....you have nothing to back that with...I do.

There were 76 drivers on the 705 road list....33 of those drivers followed their work to Atlanta/402.

As I stated....if there was that much work in Valdosta, then why were those others laid off?

Some who were laid off in 705 went into the pool....while others were offered jobs under Article 5.5.

Some in Atlanta wanted to turn all the freight to 705, whil others wanted to run it direct to FL like it use to be.
When we had several bids to 705....some bitched because we did not have enough Orlando and Tampa bids....then still ***** when we added more, about being paid layover time.

I made no disparaging remarks, or took any shots towards the drivers at 705......I don't play that game....MANY GOOD people came to 402 on this change.

Now on the issue of the 70 who were laid off with 25 years......what the hell are you talking about?

The 33 drivers that came to 402 started with 1976 seniority and the last man that came to 402 had 2004 seniority.

Those who were laid off started with 8/2004 and the last man had 2/2007 for his date.

Atlanta / Dallas / Chicago were degsignated as the 3 major hubs for the longhaul freight.

Atlanta has 300 on the list now, and the company announced today they were hiring 200 drivers in certain areas.

If they wanted to save money, they would not be hiring....they are hiring because they have freight and want to make service on time.

That ain't sugar coating anything....just facts as I see them....KK

Also PPaddy....the drivers that came in on this COO have seen how Local 728 and its members have bent over backwards to help anyway possible with holding the bids for them to participate and helping their families find housing for their families......no road driver with 25 years is laid off in Valdosta.....KK
