senior men could bid the call board and be able to hold better hours and days off by working it.
you are right it must be a east coast deal .
That's why it should really be named the National Not-So-Master Freight Agreement!

unassigned-10% its pretty much the same, the only difference I seen was percenter were on call and if you were special you were offered a mans bid when he went on vacation, when I was down south unassigned men were usually set up for the week unless it was the normal slow weeks, x-mas-January, and the 2 weeks in July when the big 3 shuts down

Isn't it time that WE the rank-and-file Union members took our Union back?

Should have happened 35 or more years ago, but it's never too late.

The Teamsters Union ran just fine in 1977, IMO.

At that precise moment possibly, but the seeds of the downhill run were starting around that time. Remember Williams, Presser, etc. Remember not long after that time how the prohibition of "double-breasting" was blatantly ignored (Conway regional companies). I remember those times well. I'll agree that times were good for us in those years (1970's) but the handwriting was on the wall also.

Havent been around near as long as you guys and I agree that the pay and bennies started to "soften" then but, for me it was when Phill Young pulled our strike down at Overnite so he and Jimmy could run.
