When will this ever come to an end? When management has nothing else to do the start their ******* write up quotas. Can someone tell me how can you write an unassigned guy up for failure to sign up for work on one day when their is a list put out for 7 days? He cant work but 5 days with 2 days off. If you have a list for 7 days, how the hell can you write him up for working 5 days Sunday -sat?

    Mud,
The first thing you need to do is to point this out to your Steward, this has to be the first step. If he will not address this grievance, PLEASE come back and I and/or others will give you the best advice that we can.
You are not alone, we at KCM are also facing a very hostal working enviorement but, if we all work togeather, we can and will rebuild our Union!
    mustache and albag like this.

The stewards say the company can do it. I worked 5 days from Friday to Tue and they forced me to come in today for my sixth straight day at work and I get no ot for it. The steward said the week starts on Sunday and ends on Saturday. (doesn't everyone's?) So since i worked 2days and then 3 days in the new week, they can force me in for another 2 days for the new week because the Fri and Sat. punch don't count. Which means i can be forced to work 7 days in a row with out OT. Wen i worked across the week end on my other bids i got paid OT why am i being forced to now with out 2 days off or OT pay?

thats why you need to sign up for whats good for you.keep it all in the same work week.

Ok, what do ya meen "unassigned".... 10%, layed off, causal?
Have your Steward look up Article 61, Section 6. Flexible Workweek. "When an employee's bid schedule changes as a result of a new bid, job abolishment or bumping, the employee shall have the OPTION to work enough days to guarantee 40 hours for that pay period OR HAVE THE OPTION to take days off prior to commencement of the new bid. If the employee elects to work the days prior to the commencement of his new bid, such days will be worked at STRAIGHT-TIME pay."

we had what we called "the call board " in stroudsburg pa.you were full time guarenteed a 40 hour work week.
our pay week and work week were differant.
work week was thursday-wed. pay week was sun-sat.
if you worked mon and tuesday that was of 1 week but then you started over come wed night midnight.
In kernersville it worked the same way but they called it unassigned.
a few times i worked 7 in a row all straight time because of the differant work weeks.
not saying its right but its how its been for the last 23+years,
now if you are layed off its differant, you can call off when ever you want with no action toward you .

Wow, must be a East Coast thing, have never ever heard of that. Here everyone has to be on a bid, 10%, floating (10%), layed off or causal.

did the call thing my 1t 6 years ,after a little while you can make it work 4 yourself.
part of that being on the call board was we had what we called" hold downs"
they would post a list of men on vacation and those on call could bid for that week to work their vacation, by seniority of course.
senior men could bid the call board and be able to hold better hours and days off by working it.
you are right it must be a east coast deal .
