I still don't get the "26 year old children" thing. Are they kidding me? What was the logic behind coddling these lazy, useless, unemployed adults living in their parents basement and laying around watching Jersey Shore and the Kardooshians? Why encourage them to be nonproductive? Not long ago government accounted for 8% of our GDP, now it's in the mid 20's. No matter how much candy they hand out, this is not good.

I don't think that they get a free ride, I think they have to pay for the insurance but the insurance company has to make it available if they pay for it. If the parents want to coddle them and contribute to their uselessness that's their choice.

I'm glad TDU is putting out some informative information. I'm 61 and retired. The only thing I understand about the health insurance I pay for is it keeps going up in cost.

They are covered on their parents insurance just like if they were 6 years old, they don't have to pay for it. Coddling is the parents choice and I wouldn't care except it's costing me more money to buy my healthcare coverage now because this part of Obamacare has already gone into effect. If they're in their early 20's they should have employer provided healthcare, buy their own, or let mommy and daddy buy it for them, not me.

Come on now, you don't want to hurt their self-esteem by expecting them to get out and be productive while they're still in their formative years do you?

That seems to be the norm now a days. I left home when I was 18. Years later when my Dad and I would talk, he indicated that he understood my decision.

Absolutely. I couldn't wait to be on my own. I remember how excited and proud I felt when I had my parents over to my apartment and "entertained" them. Sad commentary on today's parents who cling to their kids way too long and "protect" them from any "misfortune". Then when these kids get out into the real world they're stunned to learn it's not about them all the time.

If I wasn't going to go to the local community college as my Dad had planned or work full time for the phone company like him, he would of told me it's about time for you to leave. Actually he met me at the front door late one night and told me I had to follow his rules or leave. By then I had already enlisted.
