The Law(s) on Union Representation and Labor in generall have to be enforced and strengthened but it appears that not enough pressure is being applied to politicians from 'we the people' against employers like Cummins.

It would be great if the Teamsters and all Labor Unions as well as just Union minded voters and even those who just believe that workers should have the freedom to choose (EFCA) Union or not without coersion, started letting their congressperson or senator know how they feel about these situations either by phone,fax,e-mail, snail mail or in person at the politicians local fund raiser etc..

It will take more than just the Union Presidents writing a complaint to whoever they write them to. It is the people, the citizens of America who must speak up for the benefit of all.

If it was me I would print out the contact numbers (phone is proably most effective) of the Congress or Senator for the area where my terminal is and I would give a copy to everyone there and explain to them how important just one phone call would be on the subject of Labor rights. And it dosen't matter if they are Dem or Rep or Independent just pressure them.

Up until this year, though, union support was considered critical to any Democratic candidate hoping to capture the nomination.

Some issues critical to ordinary union members and union activists, notably health care, have gotten the candidates' attention.

The difficulty is there still are real issues and real people with genuine concerns that ought to get addressed out in the open before any votes are cast for a specific candidate.
