Default DOT drug screen

Hey everyone new person here. I just passed my cdl written exams took everything but passengers and hazmat and made over 94 on everything. Ill be driving 130bbl tankers hauling waste water from gas well sites for a friends company. I am going to start training with them next week.

I have a question about the dot drug screen. I have a bad back and take oxycodone prescribed by my doctor. I keep hearing conflicting stories about the dot drug screen. Some say its ok as long as I have a prescription and others say its not. I have even called the state police and they say its fine as long as they are prescribed. My doctor however says that he has heard stories from patients who were stopped from driving after the prescribed drugs showed up on the test. Ive been taking them for over 2 years and have gone to work and done everything I normally do. They dont make me goofy or sleepy and I dont see any problem with them.

Have any of you got any experience with this matter. My doc says to take a week off from them before the test just to be safe but I dont want to have to take a week off of everything else because I can hardly walk without them due to pain, not to mention the withdrawal symptoms from taking them for so long. From all I have read after 4 days they wont show up on a drug screen. Im stumped as to what I should do. I have a job that I will be trained for absolutely free and dont want to screw it up.

If I do keep taking them and its a problem with the tox screen are you allowed to retake it and get your health card? or is it like many jobs once you fail it you are done for life?

Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated,

JW
