The pension thing , I think it's a federal law that the fund has to start paying out at 70. Don't beat me up I agree with you that the pratice should be banned. I agree with you on the 70% new hire bad for the company bad for new guys with experience, but don't forget the pie is only so big. new hires get a bigger peace it's a smaller peace for everyone else. The casual thing go's by suppliment. We have a driver shortage it's hard to get guys without the hope of making seniority, bennys and living happily ever after as a YFS Teamster employee.
Good post my local has meetings before the contract talks start. We go over both parts word for word, then recomend changes. Trouble is we get like 1% of the guys covered under NMF show up for an 8 hour meeting on a Sat.
