I have a problem with the union welfare plan.My employer give the union $165 per week to the union per employee.My spouse tried to use my insurance for her and my two kids.Come to find out they are not covered.Call the union and ask why?They told me i need proof of marriage and birth certificates.I gave them that,thinking every thing ok.Then i tried to use my drug plan.The pharmacy told i wasn't in the system.I went to the union hall and ask them again whats the problem? They gave me a copy of the drug card and say i can use that until the real card comes in.I gave them time to put me in the system.I tried again to use my drug card,again not covered.Now i'm getting frustrated with them.They told me no one is covered until i get them all the info they needed.I gave them birth certificates and marriage license a month ago.They told me since my name as the father wasn't on one of the kids birth certificate no one is covered.My wife ask them why isn't the marriage lic. good enough?If we are marriage the household should be covered even if he wasn't the kid fathers(which i am the kids bio father).They couldn't give an explanation why the kids wouldn't be cover.So my wife ask them to cover her and one of my kids until we get the other crtificate straighten out,they told her no.I was outrage my company paying $8500 a year for me and my family if i am correct and they tell us we cant use it because of one certificate dosn't have a father name on it.Its my money i think or its it theirs to do what they want with it?I wil have a talk with the company to see what can they do about it.Maybe they will help me resolve this or maybe not.They all ready told us when we got hire on the ins. goes through the union therefore they cant do nothing about it.In the mean time my family goes without ins. until i ammends the birth certifacate to put my name on it,which going to take weeks probably.When everything get straighten out they will pay any bills from the day i was covered,so they say.If anyone has this problem before let me know what else i can do?
