Default Driving in Iraq without the scams..

I have been driving for about four months now and logged about 26k miles. I currently drive a flatbed long haul and go coast to coast mainly. I am single and am interested in driving overseas. I hear that it can be quite lucrative (though dangerous) but I am willing to take the risk for the adventure and chance to see new places.

I have caught wind from a couple of sources about driving opportunities for civilians in Iraq and Afganistan but when I search for it I get a lot of what seem to be scam sites (pay $$ and we will tell you about them sort of stuff).

Does anyone here have any insight on this? A little about my background. I am a military vet, former Airborne Infantry in the Army. Between the Army and truck driving I was a Police Officer for 7 years. I have no criminal or traffic record.
