There seems to be some confusion here as to what a work permit and a work visa is.
Its not difficult to come to Canada or the States or anywhere else with just your passport and a job offer like I did. The problem is once you get to where you want to be is staying there, getting a company other than the one you first started with offering you a job without landed status.
A work visa is an open ended piece of paper allowing you to work anywhere in the country specified and a work permit is a closed one which has the company printed on it and THATS the ONLY company you can work for. And to get it changed to a company other than them you have to make sure your new company works and applies with HRDC...and trust me...it aint easy. Two years Ive tried.And two years later...I'm still trying. Although I'm legally allowed to work in Canada, NO COMPANY is willing to step up and help someone like myself to find game full employment and who WANTS to live and work in Canada,US or anywhere else come to that.I'm know companies are advertising in Europe for drivers of all descriptions,but when they get here there is a whole lot of red tape and huge blocks in our way. So no wonder both countries complain of a shortage of drivers and the Industry is suffering because of it.All i want is a chance to work and show not all immigrants are here to sponge of the state but to show Ive a genuine interest in where I live and where I work.
