I have some questions for the truckers out there so hopefully you all can help me out. I've been truck driving since 2002 and recently fallen into bad luck with trying to obtain a truck driving job. I worked for R&L as a linehaul driver. I decided to move on to local work and got on with another company. Well, I'm not cut out for Local work and that did not work out so now I am unemployed. And since then it's been unbelievably hard to obtain another truck driving. I know my DAC report shows 2 speeding tickets in 2002. But it does not show that in 2002-2003 there was 2 preventable accidents with jb hunt and SRT. Is there another way for trucking companies to obtain this information other than the use of the DAC report?
I've been passed over at least 3 times. I've gone as far as taking the urine test and I still get passed over. Its been a waste of my time and Gas to say the least along with frustration. I've been told that it's a safety issue. I had a couple of writeups with r&l, not accident related, but I don't know for sure it that is what is causing the bad luck. At this point I am getting desperate and even though I dont want to go OTR...I am seriously thinking about doing that. The thing is I am a new dad and I an I am desperately seeking work. If I could obtain another linehaul job where I could be home mostly every night that would be ideal. If any of my fellow truck drivers have some advice, comments, insight or information to give it would be appreciated.
